Been loosely tracking my macros during this “ mini cut” (I technically am only 3 lbs away from the weight I’ll be competing at but I’d like to be a little lighter just to lean out a little bit). Set my macros to be around 2000 calories - 250c, 57f, 120p.
This picture was taken back in summer 2017 when I went from 152 to 132 lbs and did a really slow cut for about 6 months. The goal was to compete in Worlds at that weight class ( Lol I can’t believe at one point I wanted to compete at the 123 weight class) and I hit my goal but I felt like absolute shit. After I hit 138lbs, it became so hard to lose weight. My macros were ridiculously low. I was eating maybe 1000-1200 calories at 0-10 g fat and less than 100g carbs. Super unhealthy but at the time, I loved how lean I looked.
Fast forward almost 2 years and I’m back at the same starting weight (151 lbs) and feel so much better and stronger. I think it’s important to challenge yourself but not to the point where you feel so shitty and deprived of what you enjoy. Balance is key - not only in what you eat but just in life in general. It feels good to be on a cut where I can eat healthy foods but also be able to occasionally eat (and drink) some foods that I enjoy once in a while. Going to enjoy myself this long weekend 🙂

But also because my body fat has increased since this was taken idk how much by because there's no accurate way to measure that (well apart from dissection and I'm not that curious to know💀😂). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Gaining weight can be difficult for some people, watching your body change can take time to accept. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's something that my clients, and myself have dealt with. I'll be the first to admit that in the past when I first decided to jump into building strength and muscle I struggled for a while to accept how my body was changing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How did I deal with it? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ I reminded myself that if I wanted to build my body the way that I did then fat gain is inevitable and my body has to go through changes if I wanted that to happen🍑 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ I wanted to get strong and again, for that to happen I'd have to gain fat in order to increase strength💪 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ I reminded myself that gaining weight or fat is not necessarily a bad thing. Just because society tries to tell us that it's the end of the world if we do doesn't mean that's true🙄🖕 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ I enjoy eating more food, going out for meals with family and friends and not restricting myself in any way🍕
➡️ I remind myself that the changes are worth it. I am a work in progress and if I wanted to I have the power to change what I don't like about my body (which is what I was doing when I first decided to gain weight and muscle in the first place). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Back into a 5 day split, and I haven’t trained 5 days since 2017 so it’ll be interesting to see how this goes against managing everything else including the business. .
With that said I know why I’m doing it and where it’s leading me, which is towards a trophy towards the end of the year so I’m happy to put in the extra days work to put up an impressive physique on stage. .
