Having a birthing stool is a traditional tool of the midwifery trade. It provides gravity while holding a mom in a squatting position. She can lean forward or back allowing baby the necessary angle to maneuver the pelvis successfully. By adding gravity it helps with large babies, compound presentations, a tight pelvis, tired mothers or a baby in distress that needs to be born quickly. The drawback of using a stool is pressure of baby on mom's lady parts possibly causing laceration. If a large baby is being born it tends to decend slower allowing necessary stretching. ON MONDAYS WE SQUAT . Squatting is a fundamental human movement pattern that involves nearly every muscle in the body. It improves fitness, performance, and mobility for daily-life tasks. . Here are a few tips to remember when #squatting : . 1. Take a deep breath, lifting the ribcage. 2. Keeping this “proud chest”, push the butt back first and then sit down. (Imagine sitting down in a chair that’s not there, or sitting down on the toilet.) 3. Let the torso tip forward naturally from the #hips as the butt shifts back. 4. Keep heels down. 5. Go down until your #hamstrings touch your calves. (Or as far down as you can go, for starters.) 6. Drive through the heels, and keeping chest “proud” and head up, ascend. . But allow me to explain. 460x2 for a top set. < Yesterday I squatted and today I was programmed to squat too. I’m pretty sure I have never done that in my days of lifting. 1. I’m fatigued from yesterday. And I used to use that as an excuse to why I couldn’t perform my best. But you know what? Sometimes training is going to be hard, and you’re not going to feel your best, so we can let that determine how our training will go or we can take it as fuel to grow. Yes, back to back squat days will not be a winning formula to hit PRs but we are trying to stress the body to produce a change...so suck it. 2. While warming up my back seized up on me. My old self would have wrote off today as “not being my day” and “not everyday is game day” or some weak ass shit like that. Instead I went up 30lbs over my programmed weight and got a tough but workable set in at 2 reps. < You have to bleed for this. Nothing was standing in my way from a good squat day. Embrace the struggle and the sticking points and you will be rewarded. If you want to take every hard moment as a reason why you didn’t have a good day? A GOOD Personal Trainer should #motivate , #support and #TEACH their clients #knowledge ... right? • A lot of us “normal people” who are not gym and fitness addicts hire a PT to show us right from wrong and help us build upon ourselves in the most effective and efficient way. • So WHY do I keep seeing PTs upload posts of clients with BAD FORM??!! I see people being “trained” all the time who are potentially at risk of hurting themselves through bad form... like locking their knees on the #legpress or #squatting heavy while leaning forward 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m not an expert, FAR FROM, but I can spot mistakes that even I used to make.... • My PT @ hannahsharpefitness shares her knowledge and experience to better all of her clients and THIS is what a quality PT should be like.
