I love warming up on the spine corrector. This is great for someone who sits all the time or for someone whose posture is hunched over. For someone like me whose back gets tight often, generally speaking, it stretches my overly active psoas muscles and quads (which often lead to tightness in the back) and gets me deeply connected to the center and midline of my body as I work to keep myself anchored to the floor and apparatus. The farther my feet stretch away from me, the harder I have to work to keep myself connected. No problem, this can also be done using a resistance band, make sure the anchor point is knee or hip level, can also be performed standing. Kneeling will maximize core work (less legs to use for stabilizing means using more core for stabilizing). BREATHING/// Learning to breathe more efficiently starts in a relaxed position such as corpse pose, hook-lying, or simple seated pose focused on relaxed belly breathing while maintaining neutral spine position. Then gradually progressing to active breathing with more core awareness (deep abdominal & back muscles along with the diaphragm & pelvic floor). In Hook-lying, find neutral spine and begin abdominal breathing. Concentrate on receiving the breath into the abdomen and lower rib cage on the inhalation (belly primarily rises opposed to the chest). As you begin to perform simple movements like arm raises overhead, leg slides, bent knee fall outs, or knee lifts, you should notice gradual activation of the deeper core musculature without recruiting unnecessary muscles of the chest, neck, and shoulders. The goal is to maintain pelvic neutral with just enough core activation to match the demand of the exercise and maintain breathing. As the deeper core muscles contract, emphasis is placed more on lower rib cage expansion without defaulting to upper chest, neck, & shoulder elevation during the inhalation. Learning to breathe this way sounds easier than it really is when performed slowly and mindfully. Many people tend to generate shoulder, neck, jaw, and facial tension during core exercises and resort to upper chest breathing. Avoid the following common compensations in order to promote more core and diaphragm engagement in a more relaxed state during extremity movements: AVOID 1️⃣arching the low back, 2️⃣ flaring the ribs upward, 3️⃣ elevating the chest/shoulders, 4️⃣ tensing the neck/facial muscles, 5️⃣ or holding the breathe during the movements. Remember to try performing the arm and leg movements slowly with emphasis on breathing through the rib cage which can help reduce habitual breathing and movement patterns from taking over. Not everything is that easy how it seems. A year happened between the two rows. From ‘not able to walk’ to ‘be able to live a full life’. I had #spinaldischerniation (9mm) between L4-L5 vertebrae. Not for a second crossed my mind that I would not make a full recovery. I was not sure how, as I was not even able to wash my own hair alone, but knew I would do whatever it takes. I still remember hearing that I should not build high hopes as the pain will stay forever. Instead of accepting this I put my heart, my mind into the right direction & did fight pretty hard. Mentally, physically, day after day. I did my very best. One day, after more than a year, I woke up with no pain at all. I was blessed to meet many wonderful helpers on my way, brilliant doctors, healers, therapists, but the work was and actually is still mine. I have learned (& keep learning) how to train well, how to use weights properly, to understand when I must listen to my body. The work pays off well so far.💪🌈 ◽️ Nem mindig minden olyan egyszerű, ahogyan látszik. Egy év a különbség a felső és az alsó képsorok közt. A nem tudtam járni állapottól, a felépülésig. A felső soron még porckorongsérvvel (9 mm) az L4-L5-ös csigolyák közt. Senki sem tudott volna meggyőzni, hogy nem leszek újra egészséges. A ’hogyan’-ról nem volt tiszta képem, hisz a saját hajamat sem voltam képes megmosni egyedül. Azonban azt biztosan tudtam, hogy bármit hajlandó vagyok megtenni a felépülésért. Szükség is volt rá, azonban mindent megért, amikor egyszer csak úgy keltem fel, hogy nem fáj. Felépülésem során sok fantasztikus segítőm volt, a családom, barátok, orvosok, terapeuták, de a munka, az enyém volt. Én akartam mindennél jobban ’csakazértis’.
