My joy for the day was visit my friend Joy Culley’s new spice shop. The prices are cheaper than grocery store prices and the selection is amazing and fresh. She also has teas and flavored sugars with new items arriving daily. She will special order almost any item you request (i just asked for celery seed and whole fennel.). She already carries Paunch Phoron (also spelled Puran) which is the key spice I use in my vegan chili. I’m going to run out of the Bagel Spice Blend quickly. I’m putting it on and in everything. It’s so delicious!
Delicata squash, sprinkled with avocado oil and Bagel Spice Blend. Baked at 375 until my eyes and nose told me that perfection had been met.
Breakfast this morning was a frittata. Left over grilled veggies (grilled with the Bagel Spice), sautéed with some chopped potato, more Bagel Blend, and eggs. Oh, a little bit of goat cheese too.
I’m definitely going to be stocking up!

lemony hummus recipe from the How Not to Die Cookbook! ✅
Just grab your food processor or blender, and follow along!
Pulse 2-3 Tbsp minced garlic (2-3 cloves) and the juice of half a lemon or lime
Then add the rest:
-1 can chickpeas (or other white bean like cannellini to switch it up)
-1/4 cup tahini (sesame seed spread)
-1 tsp miso (soybean paste; optional, but gives a great flavor!)
-1/4 tsp cumin
-1/4 tsp paprika
-2 Tbsp fresh parsley OR 2 tsp dried parsley
Blend everything together, and you have a super easy, delicious hummus!
Try cutting up some fresh bell peppers, carrots, and cucumbers to dip into it for a healthy & filling meal!
