Today... I was brave.
Today I told my story, well, stories. I told my stories to a group of people who have been where I've been. Who understand what I feel. I told my stories for the first time today to the community of @avfti
. I have not shared my stories to very many people and have never told them in detail to a single soul until today. For those of you who don't know what avfti is, you can go to their website and check it out! Avfti.org either to support or to become apart of what they do or to just... read. But I did this thing today. And I'm feeling pretty strong.

"Ill fucking kill you and your family" were the last words he said to me before my life would forever be turned upside down. A day before april fools day March 31st 2004. 9th grade year. I was 15. 14 when it begin, he was 21..took my virginity. I was afraid didnt know who to turn to. When found out my mother broke down, she called me names and this guy walked away as police said there was not much they could do. Plus parents didnt want to pursue it. #sexualabuse
is real. Its like a cancer and affects a person differently. It plays a fucking role in your self perspective, your choices, your relationships. Nothing to simple to understand but thats why you listen with no judgement. Their are many ailments to "cure" this long term mental instability but just like a disease it targets and affects a individual differently than another with the same diagnosis. So to judge one person and say well she outgrew it, so can you. Although its true, we cant assume the person has same mentality or perspective. So when donald trump you speak on behalf of #drfords
accusations and speak with no true knowledge of ones back story its easy to assume her "loving parents" would have done something. Mine didnt. Plus its not my only time to experience it and to be called a liar. Next time silence your mind and open your mind to learn the cause and real life stories of our soldiers in this battlefield. #imasurvivor #speakup #ibelieveyou
When I was driving into work today, Kesha’s “Praying” came on the radio. I cannot listen to this song without bawling and I found myself grateful I had chosen the waterproof mascara this morning. I cried for you. For me. For us. I cried because I cannot personally name a single woman who has lived a life free from sexual trauma. I cried because it’s so hard to heal when you’re living in an active war zone. We need allies in the fight, and we need them now. Here’s a desperate call to the good men of the world to please step up; to be the example male culture is in desperate need of. To every single woman in the world who has ever endured this unbearable pain, I believe you. Even when no one else does, even when they bully you, and shame you, and wish death upon you for speaking up...even then, always, unwavering, I believe you.

Or text me. Or call me. Or stop me in the street.
Many of us choose to keep quiet, to save face, to pretend. Or ignore, doubt, and excuse.
But if we don’t share our stories and share what we know and what we’ve witnessed how can we protect each other? What does being silent, passive, and quiet do for our sisterhood but poison it from the inside out.
I have never been shy about sharing my stories. Or the texts and photos and emails and letters that speak more truth than I ever could.
Even when the other woman doesn’t want to hear it and can’t believe it’s true.
But I know that I can do more. And I will.
If you’re friends (in person or online) with an emotional, physical, sexual, or reproductive abuser I am going to tell you.
And you’d better do the same. I am all ears.
I am done with the passive. The silent. The excuse makers. The straight liars.
I will scream my stories from all the rooftops and mountaintops if I have to and I want you beside me shouting out yours.

So can I am say I am
excited about slipping in between clean sheets tonight. For some crazy reason our son who is 12 decided to get up at 5:30 because he was STARVING!
To say I was a tad crabby to be up at that Ungodly hour to make our son.....not one, but TWO peanut butter Sandwiches. Well this Mama is tired!
Can we all just go to bed already! Having Pre Teens and Adult Children is a whole new ball of worries and exhausted!
Good night world, Good night Instagram friends. 😔
Good night and thank you sleep for being my friend. You and all the Essential Oil sleep oils for the win.
Had a disturbing experience just now.
Fred and I walking back from the nearby beach after sunset and saw 2 young drunk teenage girls hitchhiking on a busy street. I froze, as I used to hitchhike home as a teenager in the Hollywood Hills. I was nearly molested twice. I couldn’t get the words out as I relived that trauma. Fred, called to them: Do you need money for the bus ? And they said no. I found my voice and said “Girls, please don’t hitchhike. I was nearly raped doing that at your age.” They said ‘oh, shit we’ll take the bus.’ They ran 100 yards or so to the bus stop and we saw a bus coming in the distance. Fred looked in his wallet and said’ Should I give them some money? ‘ yes! He ran to them as the bus pulled up, gave them $5 and they said ‘really?’ They thanked him and hopped on the bus. My hero. So alarming to see this , Especially in the current climate. Thank you beloved Fred, for being an advocate of women. #nohitchhiking #educateyourgirls #speakup

is starting the process to increase fees for #hemp
licenses in the state. This is because the state legislature hasn’t funded the program fully. Also due to restrictions on human use in law in WA there is less value to crops. Right now license fees are $300 while application fees are $450 for single and $800 for combo marketer/grower/processor licenses. They are equalizing the application fee to $450 and then raising single grower, seed distributor or processor/marketing license fees to $7,500 and combo licenses to $14,000 - contact info for public comment on second page... we need to push the legislature to fund hemp and increase hemp use by updating the laws... #speakup #industrialhemp #cannabis #terpenes #cbd #cannabidiol #medicalcannabis #farmbill #washingtonhemp
more than half of the sexual assaults committed go unreported. i watched a documentary a year and a half ago about 2 young girls who were victims of sexual abuse in their high school. when they spoke up they were met with judgment and ridicule by their peers, adults in the community, and the media. one took her own life, and the other tried and thankfully didn’t succeed. this documentary (@audrieanddaisy
) broke me and stuck with me for days. I wanted to do my part to spread the awareness in my own way, to my own community. so, i did the only thing i know and I wrote about it. i took the horrifying story these girls lived through and told it in a song. i wanted a video to show people first hand what it was like for these girls. to be put in their shoes. for anyone who has ever ridiculed a victim, questioned someone who spoke up, or called someone a liar for telling their truth. this is for you. stay strong. speak up. this will forever be the most important thing we’ve ever made, and I hope it will live on for a long time after me. please watch and SHARE. however, there is a TRIGGER WARNING attached to this, so please watch with caution. thank you for allowing me to make things this important. my love to all of you. the FULL VIDEO FOR DAUDRIE is on YOUTUBE

Within the framework of the week of the 45th anniversary of the Anticancer Society of the Aragua State, we wanted to accompany them in their day of free research for the citizens of Maracay.
There they instructed us because it is important to perform the research consultation which should be done annually, in this way we apply the teaching of Early Recognition is Critical and we can discard or traer early the presence of cancer cells or tumors.
A Cytology in the case of women or a touch test in men can simply save a life.
This is the message #ERICspeakup
we must be aware of our body and be motivated to lead an active life with healthy habits.

Rape culture exists because we don't believe it does. Sexual violence, particularly against women is so ingrained in our society and in our history that it has become an accepted norm. In order to feel like the problem isn't as big as it is we tell some survivors that their trauma was "not that bad" or that they "asked for it" in order to remove them from the inner tally we keep in our heads of people we know who have been abused. Victim blaming provides many people with a sense of I'm unity to sexual assault, It encourages people to believe that if they don't wear certain clothes, drink alcohol, walk alone, have male friends, etc. than it won't happen to me. This inherently places the responsibility on the victim to prevent and protect themselves from even a potential sexual assault and subsequently fuels the guilt and shame of survivors when they are assaulted.
But rape culture is beyond overt rape myths, it encompasses an implicit acceptance of misogyny in everything from casual conversations with our peers to the media we consume. Even in our cult classic romantic comedies there is "the chase," where usually a woman says no to repeated unwanted advances but is eventually coerced into changing her mind. Women are shown from a very young age that there "no" doesn't really mean no, and subsequently, and dangerously, men are encultured to not take no for an answer. We accept the degradation of women and accept uncontrollable hyper-sexuality/masculinity of men as the norm, which is partly why we bend over backwards to make excuses for male violence. Rape culture is real, complex and deeply rooted in our history.
Two posts in one night because why not a friend on my Facebook shared this and I thought I would to it's not as if I knew him much at all but my dad did something like this and I don't think he spoke out and he is no longer around it can truely happen to anyone. Don't sit in silent there is always people to talk to even when you feel so alone it is nothing to be ashamed of at all everyone suffers at some point in there life. #equality #speakup #yournotalone #notalone
You know my name.
Not my story.
You know what I've done.
Not what I've been through. .......
Side note PLEASE EVERYONE dont knock down someone because you have NO clue what could be happening mentally, physically, or emotionally. We should all take more time to get to know people we care about because no matter how close you think you might be. We all have our secrets. We all hurt. Everyone breaks down. It's only the triumphs and the goals reached that you see on social media. We hide behind a smile. Choke back tears to show our strength. If you see someone hurting reach out and give a hand. Don't judge a book by its cover. A bully could be abused at home. A happy employee could be suffering with depression. A woman could be completely broken. A man could have lost someone. A moment could change a life. #love #speakup #rantoftheday #quotestoliveby

I’ve had several people come to me lately and thank me for sharing my life. More have checked on me than I can even count. I want to take a moment a share my heart. I don’t share because I want people to feel sorry for me or for the messages- even though I GREATLY appreciate them. I speak up because not enough of us do. Abuse is rampant. I see it every day. So many suffer in silence never admitting what’s really happening. Guilt shame embarrassment. It’s real and toxic people do an excellent job of affirming that. It is not OK!!! You aren’t crazy! You didn’t abuse yourself and you didn’t choose it! Not even if you tried to get away and especially not if you allowed it to prevent another person from enduring the same. My hope in being vocal is that other people know that they aren’t alone! Message me- message your pastor- talk to someone! Yes it’s scary. Yes it hurts but the earth is sick y’all. Until we as a generation begin to not only recognize this but DO something about it, no one is safe. We CAN do something and healing can heal for generations to come! #speakup #bebrave #youvegotwhatittakes #ibelieveinyou #stopthecycle #iBELIEVEyou

Is all you need 💙. Comment below and share how you shared some love today!👇
I was in the high school 4H Club. We went on a camping trip. On the 1st of 2 nights, some of us pilled into a tent.
All kids from the inner city. All just a bit nervous after the camp fire dinner, public showers and absence of the familiar. 3 girls and 2 boys, I believe. After a few games of cards and conversation that revealed that black mamas and mamas from south of the border were pretty much the same, we all got comfortable and fell asleep.
The last thing I remember was the sound of George Michael singing a ballad on the scratchy transistor radio and the hushed conversation of the boys and two other girls. I felt my pants tugging against my waist. I was wearing sweatpants that I had tied into a knot at the waist in the changing area after the public shower that left us needing a shower.
I had never been kissed and I felt a hot rough hand on my stomach, reaching into the space made by the quick pulling of my waistband. I grabbed the hand and screamed
LOUDER than I’d ever screamed before.
He struggled as he tried to pull away from my adrenaline filled grip, obscenities pouring from my enraged and terrified mouth.
By the time I returned to school, rumor had it that I was a “homegirl” a virgin who overreacted. I was the butt of the joke. All of this was confirmed by my first husband and first boyfriend, who was on the football and track team years later.
The adults shamed a young black girl from the inner city who tried to use her voice for help. They comforted the boy who tried to violate my unconscious body and gaslighted me into saying I was overreacting.
They were not equipped to handle that situation. None of us were.
I don’t know why this story came up for me today. I am just glad to know I have never been alone. None of us are.
There are no victims. There are no villains. There are choices and outcomes. I Am Ayo. Ayo Is Joy. Joy is my spiritual practice. Bless it all.

Today I had the honor to participate in our annual Sprint & Stride. This year’s event will support Allstate Foundation Purple Purse, helping to raise funds and awareness for victims of domestic violence and financial abuse.
Today is also National Day of Remembrance for Domestic Violence Homicide Victims.
1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and 3 women die each day from domestic violence injuries.
Learn about the issue.
Domestic violence and financial abuse are complicated. The more you know, the more you can help a victim break free and live free.
