Together, We will go our way
Together, We will leave someday
Together, Your hand in my hands
Together, We will make our plans
Together, We will fly so high
Together, Tell all our friends goodbye
Together, We will start life new
Together, This is what we'll do
Life is peaceful there
Go west, in the open air
Go west, where the skies are blue
Go west, this is what we're gonna do
Go west, this is what we're gonna do, go west

Back home and back to work after an amazing trip to Park City for the @todddurkin
Loved making the trip to the mountains again to go deep on my business. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day and lose sight on the big picture. I got to spend three days filling my mind with ideas, and refreshing my soul and spirit. 🙌
So much gratitude to Todd for providing this platform for fit pros at all levels to be so open and giving with their knowledge and support, and love to my husband for joining me on this adventure this year. Can’t wait to turn ideas into plans and plans into action. Gathering my provisions now, and ready to ascend a new peak! ⛰

Playing around with some transitions today in my wet suit, 3 rounds down and back, 4th round flying 🐿. When going from high to low I had to transition at 90 degrees (and get the core stabilized)to control any wreckless swinging. Otherwise I would be using unnecessary energy to get stabilized on the rings and again, when competing esp in the higher mileage racing you need to conserve energy wherever you can. Check out the end if you ever wanted to see a flying squirrel 🐿🐿you’re welcome🤪 #squirrel4life #ultratraining #gripstrength
Louie Simmons used to talk about dragging a sled for twenty minutes the day after their max effort lower body day. He had his athletes, the strongest in the world, do this for recovery.
I'm not trying to be the strongest person in the world. My needs are different. But I have found dragging a light sled for a long time to be one of the best recovery protocols ever.
I used to do it on a weekly basis but stopped for some reason this past summer. Like Dan John says, it worked so well, I stopped doing it. #idiot
Reintroducing weekly sled drags of ~40 minutes has made a world of difference in recovering between all these rucks lately.
So in the midst of the two a day workouts, training and educating Wounded Warriors for my job and facilitating the workout at Under Armour Yesterday I managed to squeeze a Spartan Race into the mix. I know crazy. Don’t try this at home. It was fun and I was able to bring my phone to take you behind the scenes of the race experiences. God is blowing my mind with all that he is allowing me to do so I don’t take it for granted. I’m living my Blessed (best) life. #spartanrace #toyotapark #spartansgx #spartanstadium #bodybuilding #underarmour #chicago #athlete #gomuscles #ocr #lhfitness
Double kettlebell snatches to thrusters is a great full body combo that will challenge you big time. I used them as warm up to fire up my CNS before the 10 min snatching session. Give it a go and see what you think. Oh and I had to throw in my dead 💀lifts since its Monday!

What a race yesterday; it was no joke! There were so many steep hills that were never ending. It was the hardest Spartan course I have completed thus far, not necessarily the hardest race, but the toughest course.
It was only my 2nd Spartan Beast ever and my 1st time running competitively in Age Group by myself versus running Open heats for fun. I’m usually doing these races at my clients’ paces and helping them with obstacles and burpees. This time it was all me, at a faster pace (didn’t seem like it though due to walking so many hills), and with all accountability on me alone!
I was both nervous and excited at the same time for this race. Let’s just say that those hills kicked my a**! I was definitely not prepared for all of them. I am usually pretty good at hills but not this time. I was passed by so many people as my pace was slower than many others. It was quite humbling but I pushed myself to not stop on the hills up until mile 8. However, at that point my body was so tired that I had to pause many times on the hills thereafter.
I kept looking at my watch and was thinking to myself how it felt like I had been on the course longer than it displayed. After awhile I heard someone say they were out on the course over 2.5 hours. I asked him what time he started and it was the same heat as me-8:30am. Shoot! My watch was on auto-pause and it kept starting and stopping so I didn’t have any idea how much time had really past, so my nutrition timing was way off. No wonder my watch said I was out there only 1.75 hours at that time. It also showed much less mileage. I was hiking up those hills so slowly that my watch wasn’t recording it :( I immediately took my next energy gel.
Also, I never cramp in races, but my calf almost cramped 6-7 times yesterday. It was something I’m not used to dealing with. My electrolytes and Cramp Stop helped me manage it in this race, though, so I never fully cramped.
As for obstacles, the bucket carry and 2nd sandbag carry felt much heavier than I remember them being in January. I’m not sure if they were actually heavier or if they just felt heavier because I was so tired...continued in the comments below...
