Day 3. I had a setback and bad health news which ironically I turned to drinking to cope. Trigger. Lesson learned, and that's what this is, a lesson, every step, every setback, every day. New lessons. Back at it again. I am determined to be healthy, now moreso than ever. .
I heard a song on my way to work this morning by James Taylor. The song was Fire and Rain. The story goes, in the song, the first verse is of the loss of his friend; the second, his "monkey on his back"; and the third, his "recuperation". .
The part that stuck with me were these lines from the third verse in his recuperation "Been walking my mind to an easy time, my back turned towards the sun, Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around". He was lost in his memories to happier times in the past, with his back turned to hope, lost in hopelessness, but we are always brought back to reality sometimes in a biting stinging fashion like a cold wind. I've seen fire and rain, sunny days, and lonely times. What powerful metaphors and imagrey. .
Is this not what many of us have been doing and are now doing? Looking to the past to find happiness, away from the sun into darkness; well, that cold wind is blowing and now we must face the harsh realities of the way things are, but the beauty is we should always strive to face the sun, which is hope and light, and not turn our backs again. ♥️🙏💪 Stay strong my friends. .
