The Bent Chetler 120 Review:
Length - 184
Tip width - 143
Tail Width - 134
Turn Radius - 19m
Ski Weight (aprox.) 1850g
These are some of the most fun skis I’ve ever ridden regardless of the conditions. The quality and construction is top notch for a ski that costs $750 at the full retail price. The poplar core with a carbon fiber stringer provides a lot of pop but keeps this ski from being too stiff. At 120 underfoot They are designed for pow but they are extremely playful everywhere on the mountain. I really appreciated the full sidewall construction that gives the ski nice edge hold. The edge on the ski stops right after the tip and tail rocker area, basically where the HRZN tech starts. HRZN is a lifted area of the tip and tail that provides a little more float, but really assists the skier in turning and slashing. The lack of an edge in the tip and tail and those lifted zones are a huge part of why I loved these skis so much. The control in soft snow that transitions well to bumps and groomers is just unmatched by any other ski on the market right now. They do tend to dive in very deep powder, but as an all around surfy soft snow ski they are unmatched.
In the previous year model of this ski the HRZN was accomplished by using the ABS sidewall to create the “dish” look, but this year Atomic redesigned the ski and totally removed that sidewall to reduce the weight and make it more lively. The these changes make this ski lighter, especially in the tip and tail for a better swing weight. These changes are most likely done to make the new Switch binding by Atomic/Solomon a very attractive setup. With that touring mindset they added a rubber tail protector to prevent damage to the tails from skin clips and rough treatment. .
Sadly, the day I took these photos I hit a rock right after these shots where taken and one of these skis disappeared. If you find one @brightonresort
let me know as I’d love to be able to ride these moon skis again. #atomic #skiing #ski #skireview #powderskiing #pow @send_erella #shredding #surfing #newskis #utah #skis @atomicski @chrisbenchetler
