Dynamic stretching to improve strength performance ✔️ . Dynamic stretching Increases range of motion and muscle stiffness before your workout. . Muscle stiffness is important as it contributes to what’s known as the stretch reflex. 💥 . For example at the bottom position of a squat when the muscles of the hips and legs are under stretch... . There is a sort of elastic catapult like affect which helps you get back to the top position... 🚀 . Long bouts of static stretching, and “hanging out” in the stretched position can lead to a reduction in this muscle stiffness... 🤓 . Less muscle stiffness = decreased performance. 😢👎🏼 . Static stretching is fine but probably best not to make it the focus of your strength training warm up. . Focus instead on dynamic movements which work the range of motion you are about to train. . A really simple solution would be to do a couple of light sets of an exercise before going into your working sets 👌🏼 . . Anyone else walk around the house with #headphones on a lot of the time? 😂 I can't be the only one. And I can't do any household chores without music playing in my ear. Washing the dishes without music is not an option in my world 😂. On another note, I'm staying #lean in December. I'm not going on any crazy bulking #diet this winter. I never do. It makes springtime cutting much harder than it has to be. 1 x #cheatmeal a week and that's it! Except Christmas day and boxing day - all the rules are out the window in those 2 days. Here are a couple ways you can start enjoying your time in the gym. • Don't destroy yourself every workout. If you do that, you will overreach very quickly and end up feeling way too tired and sore to even work out. When you are always beat up, it's hard to find the motivation to go to the gym. • If you're doing the same thing over and over again, the same workouts, with the same weights, sets, and reps, you will get bored very soon. Your body will also adapt and you won't even feel sore. So even your body will get bored and basically tell you to increase the weight or volume or something for it to burn more fat or build more muscle. • Training partners can get you through days where you didn't feel like going to the gym and would have otherwise had a very bad workout. Partners can help you stay accountable and push you further. You can even have fun with your workouts instead of following an outline that says 4 sets of 10 on a particular exercise. You don't to follow that. It's just an outline.
