Day 14-Long one!
Aspire to Inspire: I think everyone wants to be someone that inspires and motivates those around them. I know that is how I try to live my life. I try to be a good role model for the young girls I am around constantly. I try to be a motivator and supporter for the moms and women that I am around constantly.
We try to inspire those around us...and some days WE DO just that. Last week my life long friend @shallon_pait
asked me to be a guest speaker to her 8th graders at Silver Creek middle school. Lol...I asked her what she wanted me to talk to them about. She said for me to speak to them about my makeup career. I was honored to say the least. Now I’m not sure if y’all know this or not, but 8th graders are a tough crowd!! You never know whether they are going to think you are wasting their time or if they are going to be into what you’re speaking about. This day was quite magical though. I asked Shallon how many kids their may be. She told me about 20 but maybe 40. I took 40 business cards with me for them. There were 47 kids there to hear me speak that day. I didn’t have enough cards. The night before I was so nervous leading up to my time to talk. (Yes I get nervous too! Lol) I thought...I’ll make a slideshow. I’ll bring candy. I’ll take my makeup kit. I’ll do a makeup giveaway!!! I just wanted it to be fun and informative for them and time not to drag on! Let me just tell you how remarkable these kids were! They were completely tuned in! They asked questions! They guessed at answering my questions! They sat and listened intently to “my story.” Time flew by. The squeals I heard when I told them I was doing a drawing for a free makeup session with me were deafening. It was awesome. However, the true amazement and tears came for me today. I received an envelope in the mail today with thank you cards from some of the girls that I had the privilege to share my journey and speak with them. Shalon sent me photos of them as we were so engulfed in conversation that I didn’t get a picture of them myself. I let Mac read them to me this evening and I was crying and he was in awe. I was told I was “an inspiration.”
