The batch day process! I go grocery shopping after formulating a recipe and calculating prices and a rough budget. I lay everything out to check twice and refridgerate things until I need them. I started with cutting up that absolutely massive pork loin into bites and chunks, and setting it aside. I then used the food processor on my @ninjakitchen
to grind up the chicken hearts just enough, and added them into a big pot with the pork. Again in my processor I mix the liver, kidney, eggs, sardines, water, and a few whole hearts to make a mixture to pour into the meat. I mix it together, add the ground turkey, and mix well. I then add my necessary bone meal for the batch, more water if needed, and thoroughly incorporate it. Finally, I portion everything out into containers by weight, sprinkle a few containers with some probiotic/digestive enzymes, seal, mark, and freeze. I repeat this process once more for the second cat (only because I want to make sure they each are getting a fully balanced meal and Lemon is eating a higher body percentage because she's still a kitten). All of this works up to 30 days of food, almost a pound of food a day between the two of them, and costs under two dollars a day for two days. It's a labor of love, but I think it's worth it.
