I have had this NECA Shin Godzilla (Atomic Blast) for about a month now and I gotta say, this is not one of their best figure from the godzilla line. The sculpt is ok, I don’t think I like the way the end of the tail look and move and how the head look. The painting is quite good at some spot but the paint on the spine could be better. The articulations is good, I don’t know if it is a common thing but the joint on the leg of the figure is kinda loose. In conclusion this is still a good figure for your collection but I don’t think it is a must have. 7/10 #godzilla#gojira#shingodzilla#neca#toho#kaiju#kaijugroupie#godzilla2016#daikaiju
Figure Review Tuesday Begins NOW! >>>>>>
Gifted to me as an early Birthday present from my family! Here is my Review of the DefoReal RIC Limited Edition Light-Up Godzilla Earth
°SCULPT: I dare say the sculpt on this figure is 100% accurate. If you're a fan of accuracy, then you will be very impressed by the mold and level of sculpting in this figure. I myself am an accuracy junkie and delighted to have found have this Godzilla as shown on film.
°DETAIL: The proportions and distribution of detail on this figure is astounding. If you take a look at the pictures, you will see that there is no crevice left unloved by the sculptor. The detail in the mouth along with the shape and texture of the tail is some of the best.
°PAINT: Godzilla Earth is a semi-toned down shade of blue with slight turquoise highlights. The paint does its job of highlighting the detail, I specially like the gloss in the mouth and spines °OTHER: As you may have noticed, the figure lights up and includes a battery box. At first I was concerned with the plastic piece that comes off to connect the cable, but thankfully the seam is nearly invisible and is easy to remove.
°FINAL THOUGHTS: I originally owned the Regular DefoReal Godzilla Earth, but I knew I had to have this version instead. I'm a fan of light up figures and this case is no different. I would argue that the lights actually add a better color balance and helps the details pop better than the regular, even if the spines are semi-translucent. The overall quality of the figure is higher for the RIC compared to the Regular in terms of paint, plastic, and molding.
°RECCOMEND: I would definitely recommend this figure to any Godzilla, Kaiju, and/or Horror fan, regardless of whether you are a fan of the Anime Trilogy or not. The figure is compact but has a huge shelf presence on display. It is my favorite DefoReal figure after the Shin Godzilla. The light up feature is worth the extra cash, but the Regular is not bad at all.
I went back to crappy Walmart to see if they had stock anymore Bandai figures. The only figure they had was Mechagodzilla, probably because I bought all the other figures they just got in early that day lol. My two favorite Kaijus are Godzilla 1974/75 and Mechagodzilla 1974/75. To finally have a Mechagodzilla figure makes me very happy. I should say I do own a Mechagodzilla 75 bank but not a figure.
