little wuppies are such good listeners.
They have large, long ears, so it's easier to hear you talk (or whisper)
And their ears are so powerful that sometimes, you don't even need to say a word!
They can hear your thoughts and they know when you're scared or worried.
That's when they work their best magic; when you need them!
They're there to comfort you, and ease your worries. Always ♥️🐕

Let me formally introduce you to Sarah Mcqueen, former Maryland State Certified Teacher & now (incredible) Tutor for Baltimore Family Therapy! Sarah and I have known each other for over 20 years, and she’s more like a sister to me than a friend. In an effort to treat the whole child, I wanted to hire a tutor for my younger clients that are experiencing things like school refusal, homework or test anxiety, deficits with executive functioning, etc. I couldn’t get over how amazing it could be to have an interdisciplinary team to address these issues with my families. When I approached Sarah about the opportunity she said “YES” without hesitation, and I couldn’t be more blessed to have such a kind-hearted, fun, amazing teacher now officially on my staff! We don’t always work together collaboratively—that choice is yours, and a Release form would need to be signed in order for us to discuss treatment on either end. However, if you’d like to work with us as a team, that can easily be done, and we can truly get to the core of what’s going on emotionally as well as educationally with your little one. Sarah’s certified to teach grades pre-K through 6th, with an extra special love in her heart for teaching reading. Check the link in my bio to learn more about Sarah, her background, and what motivates her the most! Welcome to BFT Sarah McQueen! So glad we keep doing life together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I'm struggling to find words to post on social media.
I have all these images I want to share, but nothing witty, profound, or interesting to caption them with.
I have all these words I want to share, but no images to match them with!
I'm finding it harder and harder to connect with people on social media.
And I miss that.
If you could let me know what you enjoy seeing (or reading) from me, I'd really LOVE to know.
I want your wants and needs to be my motivation.
Thank you x
Of those people who notice YOU!
You are worth noticing.
You are worth the effort.
You are worth the thought; even if it's a small one.
People who want to be part of your life will be!
Even in the chaos of life.
Notice those people.
Keep them close.
Hold them tight.
Tell them you appreciate them.
Make an effort to keep them in your life, too x

My niece was so excited to receive this!
She chose Penny the Policewoman from the 'line up' of @okdollsau
(pardon the pun)
If you're yet to discover the awesomeness of these dolls (and what they represent), or the brilliance that is Kim, the creator and genius behind these dolls, then get on it, STAT!
That's another pun intended... Can you guess which career that would be?
Thanks for sending this so quickly and so carefully wrapped @prettywithoutpinkau
You know you've got a good one when he lets you dress him in this get up... And then goes out in public wearing it!
This was 10 years ago!
And it's still one of my all time favourite photos.
And I still somehow manage to convince him to do silly things for me to this day 😉
All in the name of bringing a smile to other peoples' faces; because that's the type of guy he is!
L♥️VE you @robpriva
Happy Day of L♥️VE!
May love fill your hearts until they feel like they'll burst.
The love of a friend.
Anything that makes your heart feel warm and fuzzy ♥️♥️♥️
Absolutely GORGEOUS animation created by the extremely talented, generous and wonderful Tania from @petitpixeldesign.
Thank you Tania for being such a beautiful human x
Saw this cute little idea for kids who experience separation anxiety at school. You draw a little heart on your hand, and a little heart on their hand, and tell them if they start missing you, they can look at the little heart and remember how much you love them.
So gave it a go with Jacob this morning. He looked at the heart, looked and me, looked at the heart again, and then started trying to lick it off so.... 🤷🏼♀️
If you had to rate your happiness, right at this moment, what number would it be?
10 being the happiest

I’ve really wanted to talk about school, and school anxiety. But my anxiety has been so bad that I didn’t want to jinx anything. I was afraid that if I spoke about how strong I’ve become in this journey that I’d end up still flunking out of school and I’d just look stupid for gassing myself up in the beginning. But I have promised to be honest with myself, honest with you all about my journey to healing. I also have the right to be excited and optimistic;
I attended school in 2013-2015 and was dismissed due to my poor grades. My grades were reflective of the person I was then. Newly diagnosed and unwilling to accept this. I was abusing of my perception medications, and worst of all I had extreme school anxiety (so bad I cried on my first day of classes every semester!) among other things like an abusive boyfriend, and being forced and forcing myself to conform to my mom’s wishes of having a cis straight daughter. I was a mess! And in the three years of academic absence I’ve worked very hard on these anxieties, the trauma and learning how to kick BPDs ass. I’ll be honest I still get anxiety, but I’ve actually been willing to participate in every class for the first time. Yeah my anxiety is still there, but I’m no longer frantically darting out of classes crying and shaking. I can now stick til the end, and that small step alone makes me feel so powerful and in charge of my new life. Regardless of my outcome after this semester, I did something that scares me. I can at least check that off my 2019 resolutions! *also this image is on my school binder, so that I can remind myself that my BPD does not determine what my limit in what I can do is*

How have your kids been with school?
How have YOU been going???
Ummm, all of the YES!
Who else has this super power?
Perfectly summed up by @adamjk
Ever feel so overwhelmed you just want to hide under a monstera leaf?
What do you do to help yourself feel less overwhelmed in the world?
Yesterday: snow day. A day that included sledging, walking home through the deserted nature reserve, hot chocolates, games at home and drawing pictures of the snow. Sounds idyllic and it was, on the whole. But it's been a tough few days with a big knock to my 7 year old's anxieties at school - particularly upsetting after he'd settled back so well after Christmas. And a reminder that with mental health, as with adult mental health, triggers are everywhere and just when you feel you're on an even keel, you get knocked down again. So the snow day, whilst he was a little withdrawn all day, was also very much needed. #snowday #childmentalhealth #mentalhealth #anxiety #anxietyinchildren #getoutside #nature #schoolanxiety #reset
This is one of my absolute favourite combinations that we turn to for nervous situations like back to school when we need a little more than just Balance!! It has the added extra power of our Peace blend. Plus, I include Wild Orange aka "Joy Bubbles" because it has those light, uplifting properties but is also fantastic support for the nervous system. We roll on the wrists or back of neck but it's all personal choice! 💜
Yes the time has come!
Some kids are already back at school and some are getting ready to go back next week!
I always find it such an overwhelming time for both the kids and adults! I am not the biggest fan of breaking the ease and flow of school holidays....can you tell given my complete lack of any consistency on here over school holidays!! 😜
These are some of our favourite diffuser blends for the transition over the next week or so. I'll actually start diffusing the afternoon relax blend a couple of days before school goes back as we all find it nice and grounding! 💜
Just a friendly reminder letting you know that you're AWESOME!
Oh, and also to remind you that these cuties are on sale until tomorrow only!
Great tools to help create a smooth school transition for your kids.
Or... for YOU (as I can only imagine the overload of emotions sending your kidlets off to school).
It’s back to school for many kids tomorrow, and the first day for Kindergarten kids. It’s a big milestone, and it’s normal to worry a bit - for kids and parents. For some kids (and parents) though, that worry can be overwhelming. This week we’ll be sharing some tips on how to manage your child’s anxiety around school. For starters, when you drop your kids off at school tomorrow, try to stay calm and cheerful - if your child sees that you are stressed, they will be too. Good luck, and here’s to a great first day! #mhc #macquariehealthcollective #backtoschool #schoolanxiety #separationanxiety #thismumwillbecrying #ruralhealth

This one is for you, Mumma! I’m thinking of all the little families that are getting ready to send the babies to school for the first time. I’m a year away from it but just thinking about it makes my chest get so tight and my eyes well up.
So I suppose, this is a week of reflection, much like the night before their birthdays when we cradle the memories of their birth, their firsts, their struggles, our struggles, their growth, the tears, our tears, their triumphs, their fears, our fears. And the possibilities…all the possibilities.
I gotcha, Mumma! Try either of these blends to help ease your heart and mind. Apply to wrist, inside of elbow creases, and under your feet. If you are caught in the moment, rub it over you palms and inhale deeply.

So... Last night, we celebrated Rob's 40th birthday!
We asked our family and friends to come dressed wearing something that reminded them of Rob. It was so much fun seeing everyone's costumes, and learning what comes to mind when they think of him.
I wore a 'mixed lollies' dress and donut earrings because Rob LOVES lollies and donuts 🍬🍩 And I made Rob wear this because I wanted him to be 'king' for the night 👑
You'll also see my attempt at a fallen ice cream drip cake🍦🎂 - it's a stack of Wollies mud cakes, and I got my fondant on and decorated it! I wasn't going to risk baking the cake; decorating was fun, but stressful enough!
It was an awesome night and I'm so grateful to be able to celebrate the awesomeness that is Rob ♥️

How to stop time: I listened to an old episode of @emmagannonuk
Ctrl Alt Delete on my run today, where she interviewed @mattzhaig
about his book How to Stop Time. Something he said resonated so much, about how kids these days don't have the chance to live in the moment, how they're having to always look ahead, think about exams, results and what comes next.
My seven year old had his first panic attack in school during the lead up to his year two SATS. Despite being assured by school that the kids wouldn't even know they were being tested, when you have a boy as sensitive as mine, he knew. Most kids didn't know something was up; he did. He picked up on the change in his teacher's mood in class (she understandably being stressed), these strange booklets they were being given called 'quizzes', the small changes to the timetable.
I know as a working mum I, we (my husband and I) are part of the problem. We rush from one thing to the next. There's barely a day when something isn't planned, when there's not swimming, beavers, ballet, homework and reading. Always onto the next thing. It's hard to live in the moment and not to pass that feeling onto our kids. It seems to me we're raising kids that can't simply be in the moment because we struggle so much with that too.
So tomorrow I'm hoping for a more chilled out day, with a walk in the woods and play at home. And trying to stop time just a little bit before the usual Monday morning school anxiety comes around again.

I will no longer be pushed around by a school that seem to think they know my son better than I do.
Or a local authority who disregard all professional advice, except one and then tell me that this is what will work for my child.
I will not deal with professionals who tell me my children are ‘fine’ and then expect me to sit and do nothing.
I will fight back, I will educate myself on the law, I will quote it, I will hold these agencies accountable.
I am sick of being told to ‘play nice’. This isn’t a game. This is my boys education, both of them - being messed around and not being taught properly because funding dictates there’s no resources. Or they only put children on the sen register when they’re ‘bad enough’
This is my children’s future, they will not be let down any longer.

We have snow ⛄️ here today in the UK ☺️😀 it’s likely melted by the time you read this 😛
I’ve been asked a lot this week about how to help your kids change their thoughts so that they feel more confident and , well....happier!
When I first learnt this stuff around 15 years ago, it was like I’d entered into a new world 🌍 ! Once you know how to help yourself and then your child or students how to do the same thing - life becomes a lot simpler! Challenges can be worked through because you know the power of the mind. Our thoughts create our feelings. And for sensitive people; this is GOLD information! Believe me! It’s changed my life!
Double tap the heart if you or someone you know is struggling with this right now? Teaching your child 🧒🏻 about the power of THEIR mind is priceless!
Let them know to Follow my lives this week @biglifejournal

Hands up if your child is starting school in a week or 2?! 🙋♀️
How are they feeling about it? Excited? Nervous? Anxious? Sad? All of the above?
If your child is feeling a bit anxious about starting school soon, they are more than likely feeling a little uncertain and possibly sad about the idea of spending time away from you in an unfamiliar setting.
Focusing on filling their emotional tank now will give them the resources and confidence they need to thrive in this new setting and therefore reduce their anxiety about starting school.
So what should you do? Play. And play. And then play some more. Let your child take the lead, and if you can, schedule in at least 10 minutes every day of one on one time.
No siblings, no phone, no work, no distractions. Just the two of you, spending time, connecting and bonding over an activity of your child’s choice. And if you are unable to spend 10 minutes every day, simply schedule in as much time as you are able. Every little bit counts.
P.s. Head over to the blog (link in profile) for more tips on preparing your little one for this transition 👌🏼
We really, really need kids to believe this about themselves.
To be who they are.
To love who they are.
To use their super power to help others love who they are.

A year ago I started an anxiety journal it felt silly at first but I'm glad to say it has helped. I'm not perfect but I'm happier than I was and most days feel optimistic. Never be embarrassed for working on bettering yourselves.
