🚨DREAM COME TRUE🚨 Yes that is what you think it is! I did it, I finally managed to pickup Alex Schomburg Original Comic Art. Schomburg OA is some of the most elusive art from the golden age guys to get, and it's not only about the price. It's finding one and then trying to get the owner to let it go which is the hard part. Of course money talks but not to these die hard art collectors as everything is one of a kind, and if you own schomburg OA you're a die hard collector lol. It took some trading of a tough classic cover and cash but it's here now and so worth it. The friend I got it from is an incredible person and long time collector. I've bought from him many times and I know he didn't like to or want to give it up but he did it for me, he said it'll be going to the best home and he was right. You guys know me, schomburg is by far my favorite. His art started me on the golden age path and I haven't slown down since! I have always, always dreamed of owning some original Alex Schomburg art so today, this very special #schomburgsaturday
my first but not last piece of Schomburg OA. wow what a way to welcome the weekend! On cloud 9 now! .
So abit about the piece: Its the preliminary art to a comic con program guide/book that alex schomburg was commissioned to do the cover in 1977 for his home town (Portland, Oregon) comic con. I owned the guide more than a year ago and I always thought what it would be like to own some of the art! It's incredible I can't stop looking at it! Only one other time I found a schomburg original drawing, and it was a simple sketch of one character and this blows that out of the water. You basically got im true schomburg fashion, a "cap" like figure, the hot girl, a "shadow" like figure, an "angel" like figure, the hero getting shot at, evil dude with a turban and crystal ball. Because the organizers budget was tight schomburg had to get "creative" but if they were able to purchase the rights of cap etc to use I wouldn't be able to afford this today so I'm really happy it's the way it is. If you swipe you can see a huge signed lithograph of the finished cover, looks beautiful inked! See if you can spot the changes 😉
