This is what scared me into making changes. Every single piece of plastic I have ever used still exists, in a landfill🗑, in the ocean 🌊 or some other terrible place that it isn’t supposed to be. Pick a tip below and try it for this upcoming week. I’m choosing to refuse single use plastic. Which means planning ahead and having utensils and a water bottle in my purse every time I leave the house. Which one are you going to try?
Did you know that plastic can take up to 1000 years to decompose? With plastic, there is no such thing as out of sight, out of mind. Additionally, 91% of plastic is NOT recycled. 🥤🥡🍬🛍 What can you do?
🍬 Refuse single-use plastic: Refuse plastic bags, bottles, cups, cutlery, straws, plates, ... and invest in reusable alternatives. They save tons of waste and money, think of how many plastic bottles you don’t have to throw away when you have a reusable one.
🍬 Shop plastic-free and in bulk: Shop loose produce without plastic packaging. Go to the farmer’s market or bulk stores and bring your own containers. Refuse to buy unnecessarily packaged foods.
🍬 Repair & Recycle: Many things can be easily repaired or recycled and don’t always need to be disposed of immediately. Consider borrowing, renting, or buying vintage or second-hand when you need something.
Where do you try to save plastic in your everyday routine? Where do you struggle? 🌱
