No excuses!!! Not even the cold! Ok, for the most part I’m pretty good about moving my body daily...walks or runs with Ace, stretching and strength training are all part of of my routine. Fat burning, detoxing hot chocolate is EVERYDAY! Why not it’s amazing for my health and amazing for my taste buds! Gives me energy to get moving and helps my body work at an optimal level! Feelin pretty awesome for 40s!! Adam Bradford and I both make our health a priority. It’s a gift from God and not everyone is as fortunate so we choose to be grateful for it and be good stewards of it. We don’t do it to LOOK a certain way though. We do it to FEEL a certain way. I want to be able to go on hikes and hold hands taking walks with Ace and not get winded going up my stairs and so we can ride bikes together and so my arteries aren’t clogged and Adam and I can have many more years of fun together and so on.... 🔹️Hip Flexion Strength = More Speed🔹️ . Stronger hip flexors, NOT stretching the hip flexors. This isn’t exclusively the case, however I find most individuals hip flexor “pain” benefit from strengthening. Furthermore, a study has demonstrated that improving hip flexion strength also improved sprinting speed performance. The training group completed 3 x week for 8 weeks of hip flexion strength training (1). The intervention group (hip flexion strength) decreased their 40-yard dash time (36.58m) by 3.8%. Furthermore, shuttle run times improved by 9%. . Note: When looking further into the study, they used up to 20 repetition sets for the hip flexion exercise. Anyone who knows anything about strength training knows this is possible/probably too low of a resistance and too high repetitions to elicit optimum strength gains. This is NOT the time when I should be questioning the progress I’ve made during my current training cycle. Yet, here I am after a workout that I should have smashed, whether I was 100% healthy or close to it after recovering from an illness. If you can’t tell, that workout just about got the best of me - period. — Our workout, sandwiched between a 2 mile warm up and a 2 mile cool down, was a 6 mile tempo run. Usually we do our tempo runs on Friday, but our coach changed the schedule a bit and threw a curveball at us. This would be the longest straight tempo run that we’ve done so far this training cycle. — Some of us chose to do the workout on the road, while others took to the track for 24 laps of excruciating fun 😬 I opted to start the workout on a 2 mile Figure 8 that runs through City Park. As soon as I hit the 1st mile split, I knew it was going to be a rough workout - 5:37. The 2nd mile came in at 5:39. Ugh 😑 My 3rd mile was 5:38, followed by an ugly 5:42 😖 At that point, 49.9% of me wanted to give up. That other 50.1% won out and I decided to finish the workout on the track so I could feel the pace again. The final 2 miles were 5:29 & 5:26. You have NO idea how bad I needed those 🙏🏻 — I need to get my head in the game. We have some HUGE workouts coming up over the next few weeks that define the training cycle (10@MP , 15@MP , etc) and I won’t allow myself to drift off course. My goals are too big come April 15. 2 quick miles today! . I'm not sure if it's the cold weather, or the fact that I haven't raced in over a year, but I'm finding it so difficult to find motivation to get my runs in lately. I have A TON going on in my personal life right now, both exciting and stressful, and that could be a huge factor. I'm trying to hold myself accountable, but also give myself some leeway. . There's a very fine line between pushing yourself through those "I don't feel like it" moments, and pushing yourself to the point of burnout, and I think I'm getting close to crossing that line. There's more important things in life than nailing all of my runs, especially right now. That being said, I'm going to give myself a little bit of breathing room and continue to reassess and realign my goals to suit all that I have going on. . こんにちは、ハシヅメユカです☀️ 年末に受けたインタビュー記事がランニングマガジン クリール3月号に掲載されています📚 (気づくのが遅くて今更になってしまいました🙇‍♀️)  この日の取材テーマは 「ウォーミングアップについて」でした! 皆さんはどうされていますか? わたしも自分以外のランナーさんのあれこれ知りたいところです😊 今日は私流のやり方ではありますが、記事よりもう少し詳しく書いてみようと思います📝  ウォーミングアップには身体(筋肉)を温めるのはもちろんですが、あらかじめ心拍数を段階的に高め、無理なく効率的にそして、本番で必要な心拍数に速やかに滑らかに到達させるという狙いがあります。    ◆普段のランニング◆ jogを2〜3km ↓ 簡単な体操(体育の授業でやるような) ↓ 動きづくり(過去動画参照)  ここまでは、ジョグだけの日もポイント練習の日も一緒です。 このあと、日によってながしを入れつつメインのjogまたは練習メニューを始めます。  最初はゆったりと身体の状態の確認をしながら、 可動域を広げていきます。 上半身と脚を連動させます。 徐々に俊敏な腿上げやステップ。  心拍数は徐々に高めていくことでメインメニューのペースもふわっと入りやすく心拍数はゆるやかに上昇、そして段階的に高強度へと到達させることで、心臓への負担も少ないです。    ◆レース時について◆ ハーフまでは上に書いたものとほぼ一緒です。  レース前にそんなに動いて疲れないの?と聞かれることもありますが、わたしも以前はそう思っていました。 しかし5km、10km、ハーフマラソンとなる走り出しから速いペースなので、アップ無しでスタートすると経験上いきなり心拍数が上がり、リミッターが働いてしまう始末。  短い距離ほど心肺能力が問われるので、帰宅部出身なわたしは実はとても苦手なのですが、しっかりウォーミングアップをするようになってからハーフマラソン中に5kmと10kmをベストタイムで通過するという荒業に耐えられるようになりました。笑  フルマラソンについては天候・会場・整列など条件がだいぶ変わってくるので、個人差がかなりあると思います。 わたしはウォーミングアップのjogは省いて動きづくりを入念にしています。  写真は先日の大阪国際とタイのもの📸 大阪国際女子マラソンというとシリアスなイメージを持たれる方も多いと思いますが、みんな和やかにのびのびしていました✨ アメージングタイランドマラソンではスタート前に激しいダンスエクササイズがありましたが、それも理にかなっていると思います😊👌  そしてなにより大会当日は心から楽しむこと。 リラックスして余計な力を抜くこと。 強い人ほどニュートラルな状態に持っていくのが上手いなぁと眺めています(きっと持っていくという表現も少し違いますね☺️)  ウォーミングアップから身体の状態を知り、 心拍数も自在にコントロールできるようになったら、練習効率もレースパフォーマンスもアップしそうです😊  市民ランナーの中でも帰宅部出身の庶民ランナーですが、日々勉強と研究、実践🏃‍♀️  マラソンの能力は、脳力で底上げできるはず✨  そして自由に柔軟にいきたいものですね😊 いつもありがとうございます😊 written by @yukahashizume  #大阪国際女子マラソン  #amazingthailandmarathon2019

Happy Time-Trippin Tuesday (Post 1/7)⏰ . Today we trip back (seven times actually) to last week’s adventures and multiple runs. I’ve been majorly occupied lately with busy work days, projects at home, Valentine’s Day, running, spending quality time with my boyfriend and his family, and of course Presidents Day. I’ve even taken up multi-tasking eating breakfast while stretching before my morning runs (sorry for my janky-looking stairs pic). . For this half-marathon training block, I’ve been taking foam rolling, massages, and stretching more seriously. I’ll stretch and flex my legs under my desk at work; do quad stretches while waiting for the train; and calf stretches on escalators. It’s crazy how much sitting I do on a daily basis! If running breaks down muscles, then heals while sitting, then imagine how messed up muscles could get for sitting for hours on end! “Get up and stretch!” Is what I tell myself every hour. I like the feeling of being flexible, it’s like freedom; and I read you hydrate your body by moving. It enables nutrient-rich blood and plasma to reach your joints and other parts, while staying in one position too long cuts off flow. It’s been a month already! Last month around this time, I was resting at Azad Maidan after finishing my second full marathon at the Tata Mumbai Marathon with a finish time that I thought I would not be able to achieve! As I pass through the streets of Mumbai today along the marathon route, I realized the marathon taught me three things: 1. Have faith in your training and hence yourself 2. Strength train. Strength train. Strength train. 3. Rest and recovery is as important as the training! My race photos have come through! 😃 I’m not very photogenic, so I’m always dreading actually looking through them, but there are some good ones this time! (Check out my stories for the outtakes. 😜) . . Side note: I usually love rest day(s), but I’m actually feeling great after this race, not sore, and itching to get back out on the road! I don’t want to take too much time off because I’m afraid I’ll get lazy. 😝 I planned to run tomorrow, but Hal Higdon recommends resting for 3 full days afterwards. Since he has a bit more experience than I do, I guess I’ll take his advice. 😜 How much time off do you usually take after your marathon?

RSD 926-Im battling some sinus infection/stuffy ears crap, plus haven’t been feeling well in general today 😷. My sleeping patterns are all messed up too 😴. I almost took a “streak minimum” day today but once I got out I felt pretty good. The moon was beautiful and I ran along the golf course path for my warmup. After that my legs decided they wanted to move so I threw in some speed intervals 👍🏻. 35min walk/run warmup, 4x30sec sec hard 2min jog rest), 4x60sec hard (2min jog rest) and short cd ✅.
