Vermilion Olympic #triathlon
recap. (That’s a .92 mile swim, 25ish mile bike ride, and 6.2 mile run!)
Yesterday I completed my race in 2:44:29. This placed me 4th in my age bracket and 40 out of 82 total guys. My #swim
was 29:04, bike was a pathetic 1:21:50, and my #run
was 49:20. 🏊🏼🚴🏼🏃🏼
Overall, I was happy with my race EXCEPT for the bike! I have two major problems with the bike 1). I am super slow and 2) I cramp up in my thighs and calves; which totally screws over my run. When I transitioned to the run, I had two super painful Charlie horses in my thighs for the first 2 Miles. I was proud I ran through the pain (never walked), but I feel this really hampered my run. If I can figure out how to increase my speed on the bike that should take 10 minutes off my time and I could probably average about a 7:00 mile during the run. This would take a total of 10-15 minutes off my total time! 🏊🏼🚴🏼🏃🏼
Luckily , I just read in the book Play On by @jerkovici
, that some endurance athletes don’t peak until their 40s!!! Hopefully, that’s me!!
Now I’m going to take a week off, then focus on a few running races. Then in the fall/winter I’ll figure out the bike, swim more, and lots of core & weight sessions!
