A biomecânica da ELEVAÇÃO PÉLVICA é diferenciada dos demais exercícios para glúteos. Há grande tensão muscular do glúteo máximo ao final da extensão de quadril. Essa magnitude de contração fica atenuada no agachamento ou levantamento terra, pois barra e eixo do quadril se aproximam e há menor tensão (ANDERSEN, Vidar et al, 2017).
O glúteo máximo realiza grande parte da contração e posteriores de coxa têm função secundária. Assim, a elevação pélvica se torna um complemento para os treinos de coxas e pernas.
Para quem gosta treinar cárdio utilizando métodos intervalados a elevação pélvica é um ótimo exercício de apoio. O vetor de força gerado pela barra é horizontal e isto proporciona melhor produção de força e de velocidade nos tiros curtos. No agachamento o vetor de força é vertical e a produção de força e velocidade é menor (ZWEIFEL, Michael, 2017).
A tensão máxima muscular acontece no final da fase concêntrica (encurtamento muscular). No agachamento a contração máxima do glúteo acontece no início da fase concêntrica (alongamento muscular).
A diferença possibilita recrutar fibras musculares diversas num e noutro exercício (ANDERSEN, Vidar et al, 2017, CONTRERAS, Bret et al, 2015). Assim, a atividade das unidades motoras resta aumentada no início da fase concêntrica no agachamento e no final da mesma fase na elevação pélvica (CATERISANO, Anthony et al, 2002).
Musculatura alvo: na elevação pélvica são os extensores de quadril. O músculo agonista primário é o glúteo máximo. Os secundários: isquiotibiais e adutor magno. Para controle da pelve utilizamos o glúteo médio e mínimo. A articulação dos joelhos também trabalha. Os músculos primários agonistas são: vastos e o reto femoral.
Eu acrescento a elevação pélvica nos treinos que prescrevo e a executo quando consta da rotina de treinos feitas pelo meu treinador. E o melhor e realizar esse exercício em máquina específica como essa do vídeo!

I am SO passionate about what I do to help people in my own unique way, but that doesn't stop the fear & doubt from visiting me from the shadows & although I know that for many of you that are pursuing your calling, it can feel like a roadblock in figuring out how to get started and wondering if your current efforts are paying off, I want to remind you that it is ! You are laying the foundations through all of your heartfelt intentions to help others in the way that calls to your soul, to heal yourself & in continuing to figure it out, even if you're confused about how to create a life that sustains your passion to help.
In the midst of my own self-doubt, I had to remind myself that it's going to be okay. When all of the directions and choices and confusion send you spinning, remember that THESE uncertain moments are NECESSARY for you as you stay true to your heart's calling. Because guess what ? How will you handle self-doubt later down the road after you figure this challenge out? This experience will help you to better know yourself, the habits & the behaviors that you exhibit during self-doubt so that when faced with it again during bigger challenges, you will have an idea of how to proceed. 🌊
Not only that, but don't forget that your vibrations effect how things ultimately turn out. Assistance & miraculous solutions is inevitable when you know that the challenge is happening for you !

I think everyone goes through hard events, whether it’s breakups, the loss of someone precious, a failed class, the battle with addictions, mental illness, destroyed friendships and so on.
I study psychology which makes me even more aware of every difficult path people go through and I also learned about RESILIENCE.
The capacity to bounce back from hard times.
The power to acknowledge our flaws, our mistakes and our weak points and to grow from them.
This tattoo is my resilience. My strength. The hurt i’ve been through and that I’ve overcome. The decisions I’ve made for ME.
To stop caring about people’s opinions and dye my hair crazy colours, stop putting makeup every day, becoming VEGAN and annoying every single person that feels attacked by it, ditching toxic people and taking care of the people who give back to me.

I was reminded this morning that DEEP, transformational mindset work, is like running a motherfucking ultra-endurance 106 miles race.⠀
I'm not kidding.⠀
I sometimes think people underestimate what it takes to go down into the depths of your mind and soul, to face your darkest fears, demons of years past, to bring to the forefront all that requires forgiveness and healing at this time so that you may move forward with greater ease, flow and speed to do the work you came here to do.⠀

Which is why I'm taking the rest of the morning off.⠀
Going out on my bike to nourish myself, to give to myself what I need right now, knowing and trusting that this is EXACTLY what my soulmate clients need from me today.⠀

Awaiting Hurricane Maria one of my biggest worries (ignorant of the catastrophe Maria would bring upon Puerto Rico) was being able to get through the phone to NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) and verify if I would still be able to take my NAPLEX (North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination) board that following Tuesday. Little did I know. I was staying over with my brother’s at a 10 flight apt...(my apt was empty, I had JUST signed my contract the week before when Hurricane Irma struck and to say the least, I wasn't able to move into my apartment until November, this is a whole other story from the Maria's backlash) .... Sleeping with my niece, 5y/o at the moment, the sounds were scary and she would whisper, "titi chilly... is that the hurricane"... I tried to be as calm as I could until I got her to fall asleep. It was a bit after 5 am when a big BOOM woke me... The front door was pounding. My brother and I started drilling, cutting, moving things ... anything that we could do to reassure it wouldn't open (Picture in the post above). The neighbors who evacuated from the 13th floor weren't so lucky (picture also in the post). Shortly after, my sister who lives in DC and was our only link to really knowing how long this nightmare would take, told us the hurricane WOULD soon make landfall... SOON as in this was just the beginning. Water came in through the walls, the water swished side to side in the toilet, the whole building moved... Morning... (before and after pic in post)... I knew my board should be the least of my problems, still, I tried to study. I would drive to Popular Center to TRY and get some Wi-Fi to study my modules of practice exams... each try failed, no signal and to say it was crowded would be an understatement ... the radio didn't help my eagerness to be valuable... hearing people ask for medications, pharmacies without pharmacists... and then..LIFE happened...over a simple thing (NOTHING was simple at the time) as coffee, I heard the building next door had a good one (most building signs had flown off, so I didn't know what it was)... so I (CONT. AT COMMENTS)
Been going through a lot lately, so much change has gotten me off track. After about a month of no lifting I'm getting back in the gym and going hard. Focusing a lot on form. 185x1 and back down 135x8. But it looks good and feels even better!

yesterday. I spoke about somatic practices and trauma-sensitive mindfulness, on behalf of the Copper Beech Institute @copperbeechinstitute
and about my personal trajectory professionally, as an outgrowth of my own path as a survivor of sustained developmental trauma.
I am honored and grateful to be in the company of the wise and heart-based advocates, thinkers, practiotioners and policy makers, of our panel.
A resounding thank you to Grace Farms, the Grace Farms Foundation, and the Copper Beech Institute — for encouraging my presence in these dialogues around trauma and healing trauma. 💙

Here is an example of our foot resilience and care with men’s tennis in preparation for their tournament this weekend. We use the rock mat to increase blood circulation of the foot and the spike ball + roller to work into the fascia. The second video is aimed at restoring the arch of the foot that we lose from being in shoes all day (exercise termed short foot). Brave Oil was born one morning earlier this year in a moment of desperation. My eldest had recently started preschool & the separation anxiety he felt was real, & it was awful. (So many tears - his & mine!)
My studies in Psychology had taught me that generally speaking, the best way to handle situations that make us anxious is to face them. But as a parent, my protective heart was screaming at me to remove him from the situation causing him such upset.
On that morning, my nerves frazzled listening to him beg to stay home, I spotted a vial of essential oil on my counter that a girlfriend had gifted me. Desperate to calm his nerves & strengthen his resilience, I grabbed it & told him it was 🌟 MAGICAL 🌟 Brave Oil. Together we rubbed it onto the soft skin of his forearms & inhaled the scent with deep breaths.
It proved the circuit breaker we needed & a ritual was born. Fortified by the belief that he WAS brave, my little one discovered a resolve he couldn’t seem to find before. His hand still clung to mine as we walked to preschool, but he was calmer, more confident, quietly assured of his bravery.
To this day, we still use our Brave Oil for preschool drop offs & other situations that require it. He now loves preschool & I love that his world has opened up in ways I couldn’t have given him at home.
As I work towards my registration as a Psychologist, my passion for understanding anxiety & resilience in primary school-aged children has deepened, hence the birth of The Brave Space.

In my feelings | If we could come to fully comprehend we are not separate from the earth but ARE the earth would be more prepared to fight, to stand up, to protect our home? What happens to it happens to us. We are all affected and interconnected. If not physically, spiritually. Watching the storms engulf North Carolina and the flooding here in the region I live, to more frequent wildfires, it’s becoming apparent climate change isn’t in the distant future, it is our reality. If it’s not immediately affecting you today, it most likely will affect your children. I can’t not think about the earth and the catastrophes were are facing. In my meditation these days, there is an unease, underlying urgency. Then i come back to my everyday and i look at these two children, and they are the reason I’m ready to take action. What about you? Cutting out plastic bags is not going to do the job. It is vital we reconnect to the earth and each other. To step because who else will?
