What makes Academic Students and Graduates different from others? Why do we specifically ask for your stories?
In Academia, there is no right answer. You never really know if you are doing the "right" thing or following the "best" path. We are constantly skeptical of new ideas, which makes our research and finding all the more robust.
While this constant uncertainty and pursuit of knowledge is thrilling, it can also be terrifying and devastating to continually measure and question the past, present, and future. Especially if we evaluate ourselves in the same ways.
Being a scholar is a fantastic challenge. It can be fulfilling and exciting, especially when we discover or create something brand new. But we need to remember, we are only human, and this truly is difficult. We need to support each other and create community where we accept each other, no revisions required.
We are ALWAYS looking for more stories. And if you think "maybe mine doesn't fit or isn't interesting" we definitely want you to contact us. Because your story matters, and your bravery will likely many others who feel the same way.
