Day 260: Clean Up. The Cleaning Team has been working nearly every day for a few hours each day, for months, cleaning the areas in the refugee camp where they live. And they’ve had great success. So much so that the market area across the road – a non refugee community – was feeling like they could use their services, too. Read the full story in our bio!
Refugee is a very good book that I recommend to all. Isabel is on her way to Florida and with their neighbors.
There is a significant cause and affect in Refugee. Because an exhaust pipe backfires, the people take cover thinking its a gunfire. “The old taxi exhaust pipe made a sound like a gunshot…”(92). Therefore, “The spell of happiness and safety was momentarily broken…”(92). The fact that the people think the noise is a gunshot tells me that these people live in a dangerous environment where they are used to hearing gunshots.
In our world the need for refuge is what’s relevant.

ARC is helping the most marginalized people in Sudan, those who would not otherwise be reached. We provide them with basic, life-saving services but also peacebuilding programs, designed to help people rebuild and regain control from the ground up.
In some ways Nakivale Refugee Settlement is like a normal town with its small shops, its football matches, its churches, mosques and its markets. The refugees who live here have been rebuilding their lives and all the infrastructure that goes with it. It's when you look closer that you realise how basic everything is.
No outsiders ever come to Nakivale, so the local economy never gets money from the outside. It's a small world of economically poor refugees who come from some of the poorest countries in the world (DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea). The shops all sall the same few basic products, the football pitch is a dusty piece of hard land, and the clothes market (pictured here) sells 3rd or 4th hand items that have been repaired several times. .

Aside from the glitz and glamour, Omar & I are here at @elgounafilmfestivalofficial
to speak to the who's who of the industry about our #film
- Beyond The Raging Sea. For anyone who doesn't know, it is the story of our Atlantic crossing attempt and is being created in partnership with the #UNHCR
to raise awareness of the #refugee
crisis in the world today. Omar represented #TeamO2
on a panel this afternoon, with the UNHCR, to talk about how refugees are portrayed through film, and what we can do to help the c. 66 million displaced people in the world today. We're excited for the film to be finalized, to be released and to (🤞) make a positive impact ... Watch this space!
In Thailand, our programs focus on the most marginalized children and young people living in transitionary environments like refugee camps, migrant communities, and youth detention centers. We aim to develop their life skills and empower them to have a voice in their communities and to influence decisions that positively affect their lives.🤝⠀

I want to move beyond tropes and representation in which we usually receive these lives in. I am thinking Yes!, I am Muslim. I am immigrant. I am refugee. However, those are all fragments of my full humanity. How do I engage audiences in a more humanized image of what it could mean to move through and in West as Muslim, refugee and immigrant?” - Mesihovic ————————————————-#SheIsARefugeeStar

Hey guys! People often ask us what the difference is between a refugee, an asylum seeker, and an immigrant. Swipe right to learn about the distinctions between these groups of people. //
One important thing to note is that all refugees who have been resettled in the United States are here legally. We've been told by folks that they are ok with refugees as long as they're 'legal.' This is great news because all resettled refugees are legal residents of the United States! Do you guys have any other questions we can answer about Clarkston or the refugee crisis??

. A little migrant girl launches an origami boat as a message of hope, as a message of self and her future. The fresco raises awareness about the challenges of #migration

“This ephemeral work simply reminds us that migrants have a face that everyone must be able to face," says the administrative advisor of the City @guillaumebarazzone.
"I hope that this message, delivered in the heart of international Geneva, will have a certain resonance at a time when the rise of populism in Europe takes a worrying turn." Geneva is the seat of global diplomacy with @refugees @unmigration
, leading @UN
agencies dealing with these critical issues. This year 55,001 migrants and refugees entered Europe by sea. That total compares to 111,753 at this time last year, and over 250,000 at this time in 2016.

This book had me sobbing for the happy parts and the sad parts. It’s a true story written by Yusra, a refugee from Syria who swam in the 2016 Rio Olympics on the Refugee Olympic Team. She tells her harrowing tale of having to decide to leave Syria at the age of 17 because of the threat of constant death and the fear of no future there, and then finding smugglers to get her and her family to Europe. On the crossing from Turkey to Greece their boat stalls and she and her sister spend 3.5 hours in the sea to lighten to boats load, helping to save everyone on the boat’s lives. She then goes on to tell how they made it from Greece to Germany and then how she became a part of the Refugee Olympic Team and how difficult a decision that was, as she was making the team because she was a refugee, not for her speed. Her story is inspiring and moving, especially because this is a real problem happening NOW and reading her story makes it so much more real. Seriously worth the read!! #bookstagram #bookclub #bookworm #bookshelf #library #lovemylibrary #bookrecommendations #bookreview #autobiography #butterfly #refugee #refugeeolympicteam #yusramardini

- Accesso ai progetti Sprar solo per i migranti rifugiati o con protezione sussidiaria e non umanitaria. - Stretta su rifugiati e nuove cittadinanze;
- Vie accelerate per costruire nuovi centri per i rimpatri;
Ponendoci come aiuto e dialogo verso chi li teme. Ponendoci come supporto per cambiare questo vento.
Da soggetti terzi, dovremo portare avanti i diritti civili che ogni giorno vengono minacciati e fare in modo di non essere attori negativi e passivi di questo triste momento.
The youth program at the garden, Growing Leaders, is in full swing! We have a total of 5 students responsible for maintaining the garden, creating and growing relationships with gardeners, and managing their time. We also focus on job readiness, practical skills, and leadership. Keillor, the young man in the second picture demonstrating how to use a weed wacker, was an intern two summers ago and now he’s a regular volunteer that helps lead our upcoming Growing Leaders! Our hope is that they would become leaders in their community, for their community! Visit our website (link in the bio) for more information on our youth programs!
