The Woman in the Rearview (2018)
She looks tired.
She's been here too many times, waiting.
Red glow. When will it turn green?
She thinks of her husband, reluctantly.
She expects him home, promptly.
I want her in my car beside me, laughing joyfully,
Not noticing the traffic light.
I want her to be engrossed in me,
Rejuvenated by my company.
I want her husband to be an afterthought.
The woman in the rearview
is all she remains.
Sometimes we may forget how far we have come when we get comfortable in our present state. .
So here's the thing, at times it's good to have a reminder that you need to look in the rear view mirror of your life in order to refelct, show some gratitude, turn around and keep on moving forward.
You might be thinking why? Well its because your current state is never your final destination.
So what ive learned is never to get too comfortable where you are as there is so much more to go get in life than you can imagine or think waiting for you to catch up ahead. .
