Transformation is so glamorous on social media.
An instantaneous swipe/glance from zero to hero.
I have a problem with this ☝🏼. As a coach, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage clients’ expectations. For those who have never undergone a serious transformative period, the images we see and the minimal (+ marketing inspired) information provided makes it look a hell of a lot easier than it truly is.
Mostly because all we can see in a picture is physical change.
The hard truth...
Change is superficial. True transformation is a deep inward journey. One which involves many a catalyst for altered perception (aka: stuff ups 🤣), behavioral adaptation - a process that forces us to truly level up!
Getting to a leaner, more muscular physique is HARD. You do NOT look good all the time.
If you want to be more toned, have great lines and developed muscle tone you have to eat enough to support lean mass increase BEFORE you can strip away and reveal the hard work.
This can be uncomfortable.
It forces you to tap into levels of self acceptance and love that are really fricking hard to find. To dig up and FACE ‘un-truths’ you’ve carried for your whole life. 🥦🥑🍆🌽🥐🥥🥙🌮🍔🥓🥩🍐🍎🍏🍊
You have bloated days.
You sometimes have to buy bigger clothes. You might not like where the weight initially settles. The scale goes up.
This is growth. It is uncomfortable.
I never expected any of it either when I took the leap. After starting from scratch post falling ill the LAST thing I wanted was to gain 9kg all over again. I hated it but I persevered.
Now?! Better legs, more muscle, some semblance of shoulders and a shitload more mental strength and resilience that I ever thought possible.
And it took me much longer than most to lose it too, because of my situation. I have clients who lose 10cm around the waist in 9 weeks (not mentioning names **cough @tottysanders
** 😉) It took me 18 months
Transformation doesn’t necessarily happen in 6/8/12/14 weeks. Damn, sometimes it doesn’t even happen in a year. Change? Of course!
