Let's talk podcasts! Recently @macmillanpodcasts
sent me a new free podcast rec called Case Closed, once I read the description I had to give it a try. Case Closed follows true crime cases, solved cases that is which sounded satisfying from the get go. -
Season 1 is based on Shana Hogan's Secrets of a Marine's Wife. First a confession: I don't think this title would have piqued my interest had I seen it on the shelf and I would have made a mistake by not picking it up.
Secrets of a Marine's Wife and Season 1 of Case Closed follows the story of Erin Corwin & her murder. Erin got married at 18 & moved to a marine base in California, things were not so great from the very beginning both Erin & her husband in their young age made a ton of bad financial decisions & dug themselves in a pretty deep hole, as it's usually the case, money issues tend to create tension.
Once they settled in base they became friends with two couples & all seemed well, like family almost, until it wasn't. Erin goes through a loss that sinks her into depression & the marriage keeps going from bad to worse, she eventually gets involved with one of her friend's husband & they had a pretty all consuming affair that of course everyone ends up finding out about all & hell broke loose.
Once things calmed down Erin found herself pregnant & things seemed to be getting better except soon after that she suddenly disappeared only to be discovered dead 2 months later at the Joshua Tree National Park.
Now to find who the murderer was. Was it someone she knew? Was is her husband? Was is it her lover? The lover's wife? -
The podcast offers interviews with the detectives involved with the investigation & friends and family, as well as insights from the author, it really is an interesting listen. There are 4 episodes available now & episode 5 will be out next week. Click on the profile link at @macmillanpodcasts
