||| Welcome to Day 3 of #AyurvedaYogaAndYou
Dosha ▶️ Kapha
Asana ▶️ Adho Mukha Vrksasan
💧Stir your Kapha🌿
The literal translation of Kapha is “that which sticks” and can be thought of as the glue that holds the body together.At the cellular level it is the force that governs the cell’s structure. Heavy,slow,dense,dull,soft,oily and cold.
Some of the organs associated with kapha include: the joints,stomach,mouth and lymph nodes.
🌩 When imbalanced,kapha types are most prone to obesity,heart disease,diabetes,sinus congestion and water retention/bloating.
Even though this type is the most mentally stable,if not in balance,kapha can create mental lethargy or depression because they tend to store their emotions.
Practice in a simulating,moving,warming, lightening,energizing way.
Always make sure to warm up properly and then do the asanas with effort,speed and determination. Kapha’s mind needs to be kept enthusiastic,awake and focused: keep the Prana upward moving and circulating,gaze up;take deep,rapid breaths if necessary to maintain energy.Pause after inhalation and after the exhalation.
Mornings or evenings between 6 and 10
Poses such as standing poses,Handstand,Headstand,Shoulderstand and backbends are main kapha reducers.
Adho Mukha Vrksasana-headstand-a full inverted balancing posture to balance the heavy slow cold and sedated nature of kapha or kapha imbalance.
Because when you reverse the blood flow in the body,accumulated fluid in the ankles and legs (which can be caused by too much kapha) gets the chance to move and drain.This asana also shifts the tendency of kapha to get stuck in the same old routines,by offering a whole new perspective on the world🙃
Normalization of body weight,reduction of congestion,removal of excess fat,mucus and water from the body,greater sense of detachment! •
