Bugatti EB110 SS (1994)
Bugatti eb110 GT (1991-1995)
Powered by a quad-turbo 60-valve V12 that could leave others in its dust. Capable of breaking the 200mph barrier, the eb110 used four-wheel-drive to put its power down to the pavement. The 0-60mph time was dispatched in 4.5sec and top speed was a staggering 212mph.
The Bugati eb110 had a 3.5lt V12 under its bonnet and with the quad turbos spinning it was capable 553hp at 8000rpm and 451lb ft of torque channeled through a six-speed manual gearbox and delivered to all four wheels. Power was available from low down, even at 1000rpm, but when you put the boot down, it just powers away.
There is nothing like it in the normal driving world, like a Golf GTi or something for comparison, for this Bugati e110 will blow it to bits. However fast the Golf feels, double it and you’ll get the picture. Its not just the engine's speed that impresses, but it’s extraordinary flexibility at low revs which is surreal.
When it is all on song, the V12 offers a proper supercar guttural rumble that builds, along with the whistles from the four turbos to offer an intoxicating scream. On top of that, it was the best-riding supercar we’d yet driven, “effortlessly” sponging up ruts around town, and “miraculous” absence of body roll.
The driving position is the main problem and taller people rue the lack of any decent space. However, for shorter people, it fits like a glove, with adjustable bucket seats that are comfortable and supportive for long journeys. The pedals and the gear-lever couldn’t be better located.
The Bugati eb110 GT was one of the first proper touring supercars, as well as been one of the best.
