Nam Long Le Shaker: London’s Most Playful Night Out
Anyone who has spent time in London's Chelsea over the last two decades is likely to have had a memorable night at Brompton Road’s Asian-fusion temple to fun @namlonglondon
Less a restaurant, more a state of mind, Indochine beauty Nam Long has never failed to put its party dress on seven nights a week and serve up the most entertaining evenings in West London. While an undeniably Euro-Sloane crowd hold court, the Vietnamese-inspired restaurant also has a laid-back, bohemian style that makes it a playful and fabulous choice for anyone, local or tourist, who is looking for a perfect setting for good old-fashioned cocktails, dinner and dancing (on tables) as well as a true taste of Vietnam.
Overseen by owner Dzuyen Dang, daughter of the later legendary host, Thai Dang (who once refused Prince William entry because he was wearing trainers only relenting when the young royal scarpered back to his car and changed shoes), Nam Long has the sort of club-like discretion that has attracted A-list celebrities such as The Rolling Stones and Kate Moss as regulars while gaining a cult reputation which is still going strong. Come here and find heaven in the succulent giant prawns and siu yuk buns laden with silky pork belly and coriander, the most potent cocktail list for a mile around and, above all, at atmosphere of undiluted unmistakably London fun. Top tip: Order a Flaming Ferrari and say goodbye to all inhibitions...
