"Don't worry, dear. I love you just the way you are!"
Queen Elinor from Brave. Photography (c) DLG / http://elvenmaid.org.
This photo was taken a day before ECG finals. I was a big ball of stress that day and can't believe that they were able to capture me with a peaceful expression!
I adore this costume. I made noticable upgrades to it before the finals and haven't had a photoshoot after that. Can't wait to have one with it! Hopefully in a castle... 😍
So, I am pretty happy with how good this is looking. The hair is blending well together, and the length is pretty much perfect. What I am worried about is the weight. I'm guessing that the one side I have completed is about 5lbs. This wig is probably going to be close to 10-15lbs. I do believe wig clips and about a million bobby pins are going to be required to keep it on my head. Anyhoo, just a small progress update. Now I need to attach the braid into the wig. Allons-y!!
Since I have no photo shoots planned for while I’m here at @dragoncon here’s a spectacular photo and edit of the costume I’m wearing today, Elinor, done by @girl_with_the_blue_hair I’m constantly awed and amazed by the photos she produces.
Apparently I’m a goof who never posted any of the photos from on stage as Elinor at @emeraldcitycomiccon at all! I was looking through my Instagram for this picture and it wasn’t there! So better late than never, right?
Sappy post for a bit here: Competing at #eccc was such a dream come true. I honestly didn’t expect to do well at all, let alone get the recognition I did. As a seamstress my life’s passion is a very singular activity. I want more than anything to connect with other costumers and sewers, to meet them, talk to them and look at their costumes up close was so fulfilling for me. I have every intention to apply and hopefully compete again next year but placing or winning is still not my goal. My goal is to make friends and talk shop and make the absolute best costume I can with my current skill set. And if you ever want to talk sewing with me don’t hesitate to reach out. That’s my JAM!
