Life is not all unicorns and rainbows... this was one of the hardest things I have done in the last three years... taking down the tree I had put up for the first time in three years... and first one by myself... a tree for my daughters when they were to come to Colorado for Christmas... the first Christmas they were to spend with me since their mother and I’s divorce process started in 2015... only for them to not show up to the airport... and spend another Christmas all alone... just prior to that... I had authored an email to somehow that needed to be done... addressing fears that I needed to ... not only for their sake but for mine too... and the response to that was not what I expected... after all this the emotions came so high... I almost had to schedule time to cry... what is the lesson in this?... I have been accused of some as just displaying an “Instagram” life... I don’t think that is the case as I am pretty blessed... but sometime life is not prefect and the difference I see... is what you do... how you respond in the imperfect moments is the ultimate separator... for those that are going to lose... and those that are not only going to win... but help others win on their journeys... trust the process my friends ... and know their are people out there to embrace the suck along with you. -#stayinteresting and you never know when the #🦄 is watching... and PS they never tell you when they are.

This morning was a reminder that our mind is what controls us..... I was in a funk. 😔Woke up feeding my mind with negativity. I almost didn’t push play but knew if anything was going to change my mindset it was that. So glad I did I felt as if the workout this morning was just for me. You know like when you are sitting in church and you feel the message is just for you. That was me this morning with my workout. I had to start focusing on what I was telling myself. I started telling myself look you are moving your body. You are doing this! You are doing hard! Life gets hard, if I can do this workout I can do hard! What are you telling yourself? Yayyy personal best for me tonight!! We did pyramid chest press rep challenge(12,10,8,6,4 reps), the lower the reps the higher the weight. I always struggled to hit 4 reps at my highest 95lbs(could usually only do a half of a rep lol). *loonng motivational post about to go down* ❣️ Sometimes the lyrics to a #motivationalsong don’t matter, it’s more of the title & music that keeps you going. . *Someone told me they can’t run because the treadmill hurts their legs. 😐 Now I’m not a running coach, nor do I know a ton about running. I do however have a great mentor who is a multi-marathon finisher, an old cross country coach, & my dad. So that helps in the knowledge department. *Here’s what I learned: running is always going to hurt somewhere when you start out. Your feet, ankles, knees, legs, hips, back, stomach, arms, chest, throat, & •mind• are all going to hurt. (At some point during training.) You have to condition those parts of you. If it doesn’t stop, you have to make sure you’re running in the correct shoes. Bad support = pain. *You also may be running too much at first. You have to gradually increase yourself. You cannot jump into running expecting to pull out a 5k. Do a 1/2 a mile. Then do 3/4 of a mile. Then push for 1 mi. Try to get a faster 1 mi then slow back down & push to 1.5 mi. Keep at that then go for 2 mi. If you can run 2 mi, you can run 3 mi. A 5k is 3.1 miles... so if you can run the 2 mi, you can finish a 5k. Running is mental too. It’s hard for me mentally sometimes. I get bored. Or I psych myself out thinking my 3 miles is going to take me at most 30 minutes. I do too much mental math. Or I’m just not into it. Today’s run, I was not in the right state of mind at the beginning. I had no motivation. But I made myself do it. It cleared my mind & I ended up running one of my best 5k’s. I always say “The day you just don’t feel like it is the day you need it most.” And yes, I just quoted myself. It’s a great quote. 😂 Everybody has to start somewhere. And it’s probably going to hurt, but as long as you keep pushing & pushing, you will end up surprising yourself. I know I have. Annnd scene. 😸🧘🏻‍♀️

Sometimes I find myself at the gym but not really AT THE GYM. Wtf do you mean Katie? You sound like a crazy person. I know, I know, hear me out. There are days where I find myself casually going through the motions, doing the sets, doing the reps.. but not at all pushing myself as I should be. Gym sessions such as these make me feel accomplished in that I worked out, but in the long run am I benefiting physically? Moving closer to my goals? Building strength? Muscle? The simple answer is “No”. Recently I have been catching myself on days where I am taking it easy and from that moment on switching things up by increasing reps; weight, time under tension. The gym can get monotonous— Switch that sh*t up! Try a new exercise, superset, drop set! Whatever gets you to re-engage and excited about reaching your goals 💕

To get something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done. It might not be easy, it might make you uncomfortable (mentally and physically), it might feel wrong, it might be a little scary, and it might be a bit stressful...but no matter what it is, remind yourself of what you are doing this for. Sometimes you have to make yourself uncomfortable to get what you want. Sometimes you have to challenge your own thoughts, emotions, and limits to see just how far you can go and how much you can achieve. And just when you think to yourself that you cant do it, dont just look at the challenge infront of you, look far ahead at the reward awaiting you. Push past the feelings of this moment, and remind yourself of how you will feel when you have Everything you've ever wanted.
I’m just over a week into my new program and although it has not been very long I have already begun to notice changes in my body, my energy level, and my overall happiness. I have been pushing myself to improve my stamina during the HIIT portion of my workouts. I have been working out for over 4 years now and have always struggled with cardio at the gym. I found myself doing less and less until I was lucky if I ever did. I hated it so much that I skipped it because I thought if I pushed myself harder on the weights and got my heart rate up then it didn’t matter…but the truth is I wasn’t even doing that. There were times where I crushed the workout but as the time went on I began losing my passion at the gym, moving at a glacial pace trying to complete my workout and then leaving the gym feeling sorry for myself because I could have done better and because I knew I wasn’t going to reach my goals like this so I would try to counteract it by eating smaller portions and less carbs believing this would fix it. Restricting myself during the week because it felt like I was only allowed to eat treats on days I did “good” at the gym (which were becoming uncommon). It was a constant cycle which led to binging on the weekends and feeling shitty that I had “fallen off” and was “getting fat”. As the New Year hit and I finally said ‘IM DONE”…you know new year new me? I felt like it was time to change something…I deserved to love myself…to be happy with myself, and although it hasn’t been long in this program, I’m working harder than I did at the gym pushing myself further and feel so much more myself than I have in a long time, feel supported, motivated and driven which I haven’t really felt in almost 2 years. I’m eating foods that fuel my body, and my soul (chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt) rather than restrict and drain it. That being said it’s not without a few bumps in the road (a little pizza here and there) but overall I’m proud of this new beginning, looking forward to the future and excited to share it with all of you for a little bit of motivation, inspiration and to hold me a little more accountable for working towards my goals, my dreams, and my happiness.
🔥🔥SERATUS SHREDDER 🔥🔥 Okay, let’s not forget those core muscles that look like claws across your ribs. These muscles look pretty awesome 😁 so it’s worth taking the time to work them 👊 1️⃣ do this plank with a small KB (I used 10lb) do 10 reps each side. Note see my serratus muscles working 👀💪 2️⃣ this is just another angle of the first exercise 3️⃣ This KB carry is so good. By holding the one KB in the air it really ramps up the core engagement, especially the serratus. On this one walk up and down the room as long as you can with good form. Make sure to work both sides. 4️⃣ leg raises using 2 heavy KB. Go slow on the way down and fast on the way up x 20 reps. Do this round 3 times 💪🔥🔥💪

Felt really good to be back in the pool this afternoon... everything was going better than expected given my inconsistent swim training over the last couple months, but man do I have to build my lung capacity back up! Had to break the session into the swim sets because of the lack of endurance, but the shoulders held up pretty good. Well I don't know if I'm sweating or crying after tonight's workout 😓😢 I'm really starting to push myself harder and making a point to not use the modified workouts. Those burpee lunges at the end really took a toll on me today! Today I did my workout a little bit later because I've been working on building my business setting my foundation for the future. If you would have told me just a few months ago I would be developing a passion for fitness and nutrition I would have laughed in your face. I've always done the yoyo effect where I lose a bunch of weight either by starving myself or not eating the right foods and then I just gain it all back. It was exhausting. I remember telling myself when I lost 50 pounds the first time (You heard me right I've done it twice now) I'll never get that way again well several months later I was back to my same old eating habits. I realized I wasnt living a sustainable lifestyle. Now I realize that I need to do this the right way even if the results are slower than when I wouldn't eat I know that building a passion for my body and how I want to feel is fundamental in reaching my long term goals. I know you can do this too. No matter what your story is. No matter your fitness level I want to be there there with you. Today was a hard day 💀 not going to lie, it beat me up lmao 😂😭. I did heavy-ish deadlifts 2x2 370 lb 1x1 400lb was supposed to be two but it was a nope 😭, back down sets 3x3 315 lb. Squats 4x3 225 lb, bench 2x5 225 lb, 4x1 265 lb. Got it all done but I didn't feel the best on any of it 💀💀💀 but still glad I put in work 🔥. Dad did awesome and finally hit 280 lb on the trap bar to match his PR it's been a while since he hit that. I have to be honest. Today I stuggled SO BADLY mentally. 😵 After two recovery days from working out, I almost convinced my self not to workout. I told my self "just one more day off" along with other excuses. 😑SMH🙅 NO!!!! After I got the girls into bed I put on my workout clothes. It took more mental pushing so I went to the grocery store in the mean time. At about 11pm I started going drill sergeant on my self and was determined not to end my day without doing my workout. All that being said I recorded my workout (videos behind my pic) only to find out my head was cut out of it. 😬 UGH!! Atleast I worked out💁😅 . .
