Bwiti is not a dogma but a spiritual of self-discover and a mastery of the art of living. The Bwiti tradition is so complex, so full of ambiguities and heterodoxy. Its creation myths, traditions, rituals, all very complex, incoherent, are actually all of secondary importance in relation to the primary experience they offer, experience which is, as many both the most and the least articulate folks admit, is impossible to explain, recount, that can only be lived through the initiation. The experience that is centered around death, reliving all your life in three nights, travelling to other realm, meeting God. Bwiti’s roots reach deep into the rites of first Pygmies, and they belong to the wide African tradition of worship and communication with the ancestors. But in this case, not by symbolic ritual, but through the power of most potent psychedelic on earth, root of iboga.
I am in Gabon to continuing my path of training with the Bwiti tradition. So honored have received initiations from Master Atome and his son Simon. 5 years ago this plant entered my life and has been the single most influence in my life path.
If you are feeling called to work with this sacred plant I am extending a special invite for a Iboga retreat February 3rd-9th, 2019 led Joseph Barsuglia PhD, Carre Sutton, and myself at the breathtaking Imiloa Institute retreat center in Costa Rica. https://www.psychedelicjourneys.com/costa-rica-iboga
