Determination check: out of this world ☄️
I’m back y’all!! I’ve been going through a lot for the past few weeks and it kinda set me back on posting and sharing my journey with all of you.
It’s a bit personal and I’m not yet ready to share what’s going on but everything is fine and it’s just been a little hiccup for me that’s all. It doesn’t take me
long to get back on my feet and start swinging back at life full force to get where I want to be.
I’ve been following an #infosec
study curriculum that I created for myself for the past few months and I’ve finally found a schedule that works perfectly with my work schedule. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It took me a few attempts to get everything to align but we’re here now. I created this curriculum to get me back on track with studying for my security+ cert. I plan on staying consistent and completing everything by February 15th. The week after that I’ll be reviewing everything I’ve learned before I go in to take the exam Feb 26. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve been using Cybrary Pro’s Junior SOC analyst pathway, Darril Gibson’s Get Certified Get Ahead book, and Pocket Prep’s security+ app for daily review. I’m super excited right now because despite the hiccups I’ve had I was able to catch up on my curriculum for this week and now a bunch of stress has been lifted off my shoulders. I plan on being on here more often now and sharing my process to get my security+ from now on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you to everyone that’s been super supportive and checked in on me while I was gone. I appreciate all of you! 💞
Happy Holidays! 💋 -EMPRESS 💎
last night i hopped back into python and found myself refreshing on more advanced web scraping. i have a blog post up on my site that details a web scraping project i’ve completed if you’re interested. 💎
web scraping in python is basically the act of pulling data from a website and passing along what you selected to another process.
i built a weather scraper in my personal project. for this project I was filling in gaps for a client for an indeed jobs scraper.
i took these down to get my theme back together so they fit properly... (OCD) and now they’re back up for you guys to see! Thanks to @2nd2noone71
for the opportunity to shoot! 📸
I’ve been seeing a lot of the #DaysOfCode
and it seems like a great way to ensure coding is done Every. Single. Day. (Or night, in my case 😂)
If you know a better way of doing this, leave me a comment. If there’s a better, different or even unusual way of doing something, I’m always down to hear it.
going out to get margaritas and dance to latin music because i deserve it after working so hard for 48hrs. getting email templates together for my tech career consulting service and responding to infosec emails. finalizing a lot of things before the year is over with ✨
So the other night I learned how to recover from SQL injection attacks. If you guys didn’t know, I want to be a web application security engineer/bug bounty hunter so getting this skill under my belt was a big deal for me. A few things I learned after the lab exercise: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️If you accept user input you must sanitize and validate the input via regex or special functions. (These functions vary by language)
⚡️Don't use string concatenation to build your SQL queries; Use parameterized or prepared statements ⚡️Don't use string replacement to build your SQL queries; Use parameterized or prepared statements.
I got to review backend code of PHP, Python, and Java and how a SQLi attack would be written into each. I also modified them in order to stop future attacks that abused the SQL database's inability to handle the special character (') that was injected into a user field on the victim website.
Have you ever been a victim of SQLi or have dealt with it? What was your experience like?
i’ve been super unmotivated because of this cold weather ... someone help me 😫
Tonights plans: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💎 watch cyber intel course
💎 finish cybrary labs: parse files out of network traffic / recover from sql injection attack
💎 finish replying to emails
💎 continue working on business model
Long night and also weekend but I get to enjoy if all from my new bed. 💘
Remind me to never attempt analyze pcap files at 3AM in the morning after a 2 hour nap. I had to complete this lab 3 times because I thought Cybrary wasn’t giving me all of my points. (not enough sleep) 😅 We’re doing Memory Extraction and Analysis tonight ⚡️
just got out of an interview for the role of a sys admin.. I wasn’t really expecting to do well and did the interview for fun but i think I did really exceptionally great 😅 we’ll see how this goes. 💎
I don’t have time to go to the gym anymore because I’m working FT, studying, and running a digital community so…
My fitness hacks are: ALWAYS drink water, eat as healthy as I can (when I do get to eat lol), and twerking to bounce and @theestallion
IT IS WRITTEN!! ⚡️
The Infosec Twitter community never fails to amaze me. 💪🏽 I am currently live tweeting about what security tools I’m studying and got to naming exploitation frameworks. Someone mentioned “EMPIRE” and I completely lost my shit. 😍 LMAO!
EMPIRE is a post-exploitation framework that includes a pure-PowerShell2.0 Windows agent, and a pure Python 2.6/2.7 Linux/OS X agent. It is the merge of the previous Powershell Empire and Python EmPyre projects. The framework offers cryptologically-secure communications and a flexible architecture.
I think I’ve found a tool I’m going to be a master at someday. 👑
If you’d like to know more about the framework, visit Github and search for the “EmpireProject / Empire”. Let me know what you think and if you’ve ever used the framework tell me what your experience was like using it. 👇🏽
This is me last night, happy to have a bottle of wine in my hands to help calm my nerves after work.🍷💘 We’ve been very busy at work and the week I thought I’d have some downtime to study for my security+ turned into me handling buku (Baton Rouge term for “hella” lol) networking issues. 😓 I managed to complete chapter 1 of Darril Gibson’s Security+ book so now I only have 4 days of studying to catch up on. 😅
For all of you that’s been asking me about how my Cybrary Pro training is going, it’s going just swell.💪🏽🎉 I love it so much already because I have hands on labs to learn the skills I want to have. I’m a person who needs to apply what they’re reading to an actual hands-on activity to really grasp it. The second lab I’ve completed from the course was dedicated to configuring firewalls rules in windows.🔥⚡️
A lot of this material in the first phase is just refreshing and filling in the gaps from being an undergrad. I plan on getting an even more detailed lab curriculum done soon since I didn’t really schedule any in for this week. The next topic I’ll be jumping into today is Cyber Intelligence. The study of critical functions within any organization that involves roles like analysts, methodologies, tools, teams, and policies. Also from threat analysis to the Cyber Kill Chain. 🌐

I finally signed up for Cybrary Pro! Thanking @digitalempirehq
for providing some Black Friday discount codes so that I could get a percentage off. I’m starting off with the Junior SOC Analyst curriculum since I’ve already started and finished the CompTIA Security+ course. Now I can go back and complete the labs for the course now that I’m a pro member. This curriculum includes courses like threat intelligence, security assessment and testing, pen testing & ethical hacking (which I’m super excited to start 🎉), and log analysis. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I highly suggest those of you are looking to gain more hands on experience to check out this program. I plan on starting the curriculum this week and completing all the material as the syllabus projects. I should be completed in 6 weeks so I expect to be well prepared to take my security+ exam by then. 🍾Are any of you enrolled in Cybrary Pro? How’s your experience so far?
celebrating with mimosas because i bought a canon camera for myself ✨🥂
