I get quite a lot of people asking me my opinion on these posture braces (or similar devices, which buzz when you slump). I can tell you, dear readers, that I think they are a load of b*llocks. The primary reason I think they are a load of b*llocks is because it presupposes that most people’s pain is a result of them hunching over in the upper spine and that, ‘by standing up straight’, the problem is cured. Well no, that’s not going to help anymore than on a very temporary basis. A) ‘standing up straight’ is not a cure for postural problems. Postural problems are caused by our movement sparse lifestyles, and there’s no ‘best’ way to sit or stand for long periods of time. B) Most people’s back pain is fundamentally caused by the angle of their pelvis and these types of devices do not tackle this at all. In fact, some people with a dysfunctional pelvic tilt probably couldn’t straighten their backs if they tried, as their pelvic tilt wouldn’t allow it. All in all, save your dollar 💵 and, if it’s burning a hole in your pocket, make an appointment with an Egoscue Method practitioner to try and help your back pain instead!

📍start by putting a medium strength band under neath your foot
📍grab half way down and stand up tall

Hear me right people! Growth is a kingdom principle and is very much a good and godly thing. Both internally and externally. However, we have to keep a check on ourselves that God is our top priority, that running after the “growth” of things or projects hadn’t slipped into first place. It’s important that we plan for growth, expect growth and encourage growth both internally and externally. I believe that Papa God will always grow us internally if we humble ourselves and enter into relationship with Him. Externally growth of things that we put our hands too requires surrender, which is in of itself a powerful form of growth. But many focus so much on the external growth it becomes an idol and becomes the new god they serve. We need to get to a place where we are content, where we say God thank you for what you have blessed me with and if you never bless me again I am content with my blessing thus far. The great thing is from that heart posture of total surrender Papa God seems to be attracted to that and just loves to bless the world of a fully surrounded heart. This is definitely NOT a formula more of an observation. So I encourage you to look and see if you have any idols in your life, are you running after “things” a “position” or after “people” more that you are Him? If you are then just repent and surrender it to Him. This is never going to be a one time exercise, this will crop up over on over with different things. We have to continually choose to live a surrendered life it’s part of the living out your salvation!

I’d never own up to favouring one child over the other (seriously, I don’t) but I’m happy to admit to favouring the left side of my body over the right. Most of us excessively over-utilise one side of our body over the other twenty four seven. Building up a whole bunch of postural weaknesses on our non-dominant side. The first step to addressing it is becoming aware of how you tend to live in your body. Your task for today: own your posture. Pay attention to how you shift your weight in standing and sitting. Then try to correct yourself as often as possible. If we make those corrections often enough, eventually your adjustments to find your centre will become second nature. So you won’t need to lie on a mat with marker pen pointing them out to you.

🤸🏼♀️Conscioulsy sitting up at my desk. I even swap my seat for one of those ball hopper things sometimes. For fun 🤪
🤸🏼♀️Three days a week, swapping heavy handbags for more balanced bags AKA nice, pretty rucksack things.
🤸🏼♀️Trying to limit walking and texting. Although so far that’s not worked. I’m even typing this as I walk 🙄
All in all, going well 😬
2 month's progress💪🏽 Started at 7.7% weighing 142 (lost the sheet) and now sitting at 153 somewhere between 9 and 10%. Muscle has gone up (Skeletal and dry lean mass) and hydration has increased👌🏾👍🏾... oh yeah and my bench, squat, and deadlift has gone up a total of 75 lbs and climbing.

Despues del video del facing con @zebendrums
quiero empezar a compartir el trabajo que hago en las sesiones de coaching postural. En esta imagen podemos ver el antes y el despues de la primera sesion con Pedro. En la imagen del antes podemos ver como su mal facing (mala orientacion del cuerpo hacia el set) hacía que su hombro izdo se tuviera que adelantar para alcanzar la caja rompiendo la linea de los hombros, pero a su vez el codo izdo tenía tendencia a tirar hacia atras. El codo derecho tambien va hacia adelante para alcanzar el hat, con lo que la alineacion de sus hombros se dirigia hacia una linea inaginaria entre caja y hat. A parte que el resto de la bateria quedava a su lado derecho, teniendo que hacer una torsion continua para dirigirse a los toms.Alineando correctamente sus ejes, y situando su bateria de un modo que respete a su cuerpo, conseguimos que los ejes de hombros y codos se pongan en linea, eliminando un sinfin de movimientos involuntarios para alcanzar no tan solo la caja y el hat, sino que facilitamos el movimiento en el resto del set. @bodyanddrums @pepobusquets #primeroelbateria #batería #bateria #drums #drummer #drumlife #drumset
