Quill work class at Lang Pioneer Village today with Kim Musgrave!
This is one of two porcupines I keep tabs on at the state park. I saw him yesterday as well. I don’t usually do two days in a row because I have to climb a steep dune but I hadn’t really checked on them that much this summer. The other hasn’t been home but he lives on a very traveled path so I’m guessing he moved for tourist season. This guy lives off the beaten path and chances are if you didn’t know his tree you would walk right by him. I think they are adorable #porqupine #ludingtonstatepark #nature #naturephotography #naturelovers #wildlifephotography #wildlife
Petter Pinnsvin påtruffet i Bergveien 28. Pansy gjorde et raskt utfall og ble møtt med fres og pigger. Lykke til i den urbane jungelen, lille venn. #pinnsvin #porqupine #urbananimals
So last week I was impressed with my dogs intelligence🤓. 2x during our 10pm walk she was 1 foot away from a porcupine and had no interest . Yesterday the primal instinct took over and she emerged out of the forest with some quills in her tongue, between her teeth and under her nose . Hopefully she has learned her lesson , only time will tell . #ovc
After getting a night time visit from the baker lake resident porcupine earlier this year, I realized, I know next to nothing about this prickly guy. After getting home, with the trusty use of google and intel from friends I have since learned that people have woken up to a porcupine licking their face (they apparently love salt... like salty sweat) If life was a Disney movie this would be cute rather than terrifying! Have you come across any of these prickly creatures on your backpacking trips?
Ghost Ship Camping Part Three: Non-human Creatures
When pain sneaks up on you.. I hate when you think you’re feeling well so you tackle a chore you’ve been putting off and then the next day your body is like “oh, you thought you would feel okay? Haha that’s funny” and the next day your pain starts to come back.
Granted, I probably shouldn’t have pushed myself when I already had a bit of pain, but 🤷♀️ I thought I could.
Figure out your limits is difficult. I don’t really exercise because I’m afraid of not being able to walk the next day. But if I feel like I can clean up my room or tackle deep cleaning one of my animals cages and then the next day things hurt. I know it will take some trial and error to find my balance, but I know I can do it. ♥️ .

Bear camp is nothing short of epic. Work isn't bad, people are great, and I get to see some of the most amazing things everyday. Reading and drinking coffee is a huge past time out there along with falling through the roof of the home stead cabin haha. Alaska is unbelievable. •
