was another hard one to pair up with a Pokémon. I had no idea what Pokemon Ian likes, so, once again, much like with Brad, I took some suggestions from fellow fans (the Unnoffical Alliance discord, to be exact). It came down to four pokémon: Alolan Meowth - its sassy looking, sleepy eyes reminded me of Ian's; Alolan Vulpix - a more fabulous version of an already fabulous pokémon could only be appropriate to the most fabulous Ally; Chatot for its obvious musical references; and finally, someone suggested Gardevoir, which sounded nice but was perhaps too big to include. Strange takes on the familiar is exactly what Ian's Easy Update is about, so in the end it came down to the Alolan mons.
Ian holds a Pokédex as a reference to his role in the Pokémon Stadium 2 tournament, where he provided typing information on every creature in battle.
In the original sketch he was pointing something out in the pokédex to Meowth and Vulpix, which was cute. In the end, though, I thought it was sweeter for Ian to be holding/caressing one of them with his free hand.
More observant Pokémon fans will realize that the Pokédex is completely inaccurate. I just didn't care.
One of the funnier aspects about the end result, which was completely unintentional, is that Meowth looks to be teasing Ian with its leg. Someone on twitter said something along the lines of Meowth REALLY liking Ian, and yeah it does look like it.
In the end I found out that one of Ian's favourite Pokemon is Gardevoir.
