Jonas and i took Freja on a spontaneous day hike and we were so impressed with how well she did!
She rode on our backs half of the time but the parts where she walked were probably the steepest and hardest parts on the whole trail.
She had the best attitude the entire day and was actually the calm little voice of reason when us parents got a little stressed about the sun going down fast and still being quite far from our car.(we made it to the car right before it got dark!)
All in all it was a magical day and something I want to do as a family a billion more times!
Here is a picture from the very top of the mountain where we could see the ocean.
Last light on the majestic Tule elk.
A bill titled HR6687 sits in the Senate awaiting a vote. If passed, the elk in this photo will likely be shot to settle a conflict with land leased inside your National Park for cattle grazing.
Please make one single call to your Senator before Friday and ask them to reject this bill introduced by Rep Jared Huffman if it contains language to remove your Tule elk from your National Park.
Lately, the only sunsets I can see are from my computer screen. But! I’m working my little tushy off to finish the last few weddings before I leave for the holidays. This Californian is excited to spend a few days in a Texas house stocked with my favorite meals and snacks, conveniently located a mere 10-minute drive away from Whataburger. Oh and to see my family.

Can’t wait for finals to be done with so I can go adventure again.
