Danke schön; mahalo nui loa to our student Marc for the ho’okipa that arrived in the mail today.
Marc recently was here staying with us for three months of intensive training.
Before leaving he asked my black belt John what would be an appropriate gift to say thank you.
John had been present when I gave a Pahoa (Hawaiian Dagger) that I made to my teacher SGM Rick Alemany and heard the story of how offering a weapon to a teacher is a personal tradition for Hawaiian warriors so he suggested to Marc that I might appreciate a good blade.
Although I didn’t know about their conversation, Marc also asked me about an appropriate gift for John and I had also suggested a blade, but in the form of a high quality Xikar XO cigar cutter since he & John are both cigar aficionados.
Marc did indeed listen with his heart and gave John the best cigar cutter he’s ever had and gave me this Tactical Set along with a small blade with an engraving to remember him by.
All deeply appreciated brother!
Professor Daniel Saragosa & GM Donald Crummer have already complemented John on the cutter you gave him and I’m sure all our aficionados at the AJI, IMB, & KSDI would agree that these were awesome gifts that will ensure you are remembered and appreciated here.
We look forward to more adventures to come as we meet again at the World Championships in Portugal this Spring. 🎅🏽🤙🏽
