A project to build Plymouth’s creative industries and nurture creative people power has been awarded £3.5 million by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
The University has partnered with Plymouth City Council, Destination Plymouth, Mayflower 400, Plymouth College of Art and the Real Ideas Organisation (RIO) to create iMayflower. "This is Open Innovation so we will be inviting as many people as possible to be involved with the myriad of activities proposed in the project. The University of Plymouth is extremely pleased to be part of the partnership delivering iMayflower.” Photo credit: @ellacbee

These are some summary notes for the human anatomy and physiology module. I have the exam in a few hours time and I'm pretty nervous.
As with the metabolism exam, the first section is multiple choice and the second is comprised of short answer questions. I think I know all of the content that could come up but I'm terrified that I'm going to make a stupid mistake!💙
Here are some practice responses to the short answer question section of tomorrow's paper. I have written out a response to each question that has been asked in previous years and now I am feeling pretty prepared for the anatomy exam!💙
We're heading up to Burrator for a fun filled day of conservation volunteering! If you haven't been out with the Green team before now is the perfect time to come along, meet some new people and make a difference in your local community.
If you still have exams, a day of fresh air could be exactly what you need to get you through the revision.
Bring a mug, coat and a smile and you're in for a great day.
The sign up sheet is available in the Hive
Transport is included.

A new paper published in the British Dental Journal highlights how dental hygiene therapists can be successfully trained alongside dentists, thanks to a pioneering model of teaching at the University.
Developed by a team of academics from Peninsula Dental School, Plymouth’s Dental Hygiene Therapy (BDHT) programme, which commenced in 2014, is the first of its kind to be integrated with the Dental Surgery (BDS) programme. BDHT and BDS students are taught together (inter-professional education) throughout the course structure.

I took the metabolism exam yesterday and I thought it went pretty well! The results came out today, and I somehow managed to get 65%, which is just under a 1st! Hopefully I'll manage to get a 1st overall on this module when my coursework comes back next week. Metabolism really isn't my strongest subject, but at least I can say that I have tried my best!
For now, I'm focusing on prepping for tomorrow's anatomy exam. As I work though the multiple choice section of the past papers, I find myself making lots of notes and highlighting. This helps me to make sure that I'm selecting the correct answers and not making any silly mistakes!💙
Life’s stressful but the sky is pretty so that’s good!!
On Monday I handed in my final dummy book - ‘Diabetes and Me’ with 4 finalised full colour spreads! (It took a lot longer to write and create than I’d anticipated) 😅 This book will always have a special place in my heart as I have Type 1 Diabetes myself. I’m hoping I can find the time to fully colour the whole book at some point 😊🌈 #type1diabetes #jdrf #diabetesuk #plymuni
What are the coastal impacts of extreme storms and what can be done to protect our coastlines?
Join Professor Gerd Masselink on Wednesday 23rd January for a Public Research Lecture as part of #PlymResFest
on the coastal impacts of extreme storms in a changing climate. He will particularly focus on the extreme storms of 2013/14, when the UK was subjected to the most energetic winter on record with the results still being felt five years on. "Research conducted at the University of Plymouth over the last decade has demonstrated that the impact of extreme storms on our coastlines is expected to become even more significant in the future. Coastal communities and the agencies managing them need to be aware of these threats and the steps they can take to tackle them. Our research in Devon and Cornwall is providing many of the answers to people’s questions and this is a great opportunity to share that work with a wider audience." It's only a few hours still the 1003 module exam, and I'm feeling really positive!
These are some colour coded notes that I made last week which make the questions that I'm less confident about stand out more💙
had a great evening watching some fantastic theatre!
here’s a cheeky sketch from the performance
Huge congratulations to Nikolaos Arkoulis who recently received his mug for completing 50 hours of #communityvolunteering
Nikolaos says one of the highlights of his volunteering has been helping the local police force to train their police dogs and learning some of the core policing values. Through this volunteering he has developed a number of skills including critical thinking and cooperation.
Nikolaos has also recently attended training with the @britishredcross
and is looking forward to volunteering more of his time as a support volunteer.

Finishing off my dissertation!
I know I have two exams this week, but look at this mug 😍
My mum brought it to replace my favourite sloth mug (which broke last week) and I love it 💙
My first two university exams are this week!😱
I've exhausted the supply of avaliable past papers for these two modules, so I started making some small summary pages💙
Roast on Sunday! Is back every Sunday from 12pm - 5pm. Bring your family and friends to this unique venue. If your new or have been before we can’t wait to invite you in as we’re pretty sure you will love it.
As our exams have a section of multiple choice, I'm relying on the good ol' process of elimination to hopefully pick up as many marks as possible when I really don't know the answer.
Granted, it's not the smartest thing to do, but at this point I don't think I'm going to have learnt everything before the exams😅💙
Two of my favourite mugs have been smashed this week and it's made me pretty sad 😅
I am an absolute sucker for a lovely mug. They've gotta be unique and being big is a must; because there's nothing worse than having to stop studying every twenty minutes to make another coffee!
I've started the search for a new mug, but for now I'm employing an old eeyore mug (which is rather lovely) 💙
