Working late today so took the opportunity to visit the local woods for some #naturalmovement
this morning to get me ready for the day.
There is something so amazing about training in nature. Where we are supposed to be. It's so freeing to be able to just run and roam, to not be confined to a room or artificial environment.
Even better the benefits are incredible ! You are learning to #movehuman
to be able to adapt to your surroundings and move accordingly. In a gym setting, everything is manufactured and fake. You are creating your own comfortable conditions. Take running on a treadmill for instance, yes you will get cardio benefits, but what happens when you run outside and have to negotiate uneven floor or rocks in the way ?
Humans need to be able to run, crawl, balance, swim, climb and jump to be efficient in moving through the world.
In one of the videos you see me crawling up and down a hill, this is because it takes a lot less energy than simply running and allows me much greater control, especially on the descent.
You see me climbing trees, working out the puzzle of where to place limbs as I go. Outside your training muscle but also challenging the mind.
It all becomes play, something we forget to do as adults, just go enjoy yourself.
Take your workout outside and turn it into play. See what happens.
