First day on the job with Milwaukee's new #bender
. ✌️ .
This 3/4" EMT bender was sent to me by Milwaukee Canada as they wanted to get my thoughts on it. They just started appearing on store shelves for the past month.
I strive to remain unbiased when talking about any tool. Whether I get it as a sample, or if I spend my hard earned cash for it, you'll be told what's what. And yes, there were a few occasions where I received stuff that simply didn't make the cut. I wasn't shy to mention it. 😉 .
With all that being said, my first impressions after half a day of work with the bender are positive. Very positive in fact. Good casting of the metal (something @completelycordless
asked me to check), and a very solid feel overall.
Performed well with the basic stuff: 90° bends and offsets. No kinks. ✔️
I'll have a clearer idea of its performance after a week or so. I'll also let the other guys use it so I can get their feedback on it. .
Our crew has always used aluminum head benders, and this cast iron one has definitely got more heft to her. Not necessarily a bad thing though, and it's worth the added weight for the white on black markings and the added rigidity of the shoe. 💪
Overall it certainly works better than the old beat up Greenlees we had on site. It would be interesting to pit the Milwaukee against a fresh and new Ideal bender, which have been the reference in our trade for many years.
The non-flared handle has been discussed before, and it also works to the advantage of the user IMO. Helps in using the bender has a flat reference point to verify your offsets when no other stick of conduit is available. 📐
