After spending 3 weeks in central Mexico evaluating my life I drove 800 plus miles to try to make it the to the Santa Teresa NM border entry, found out it closed 15 minutes early ( they close this point of entry at 12am) I was there at 11:44 pm and the gate was closed 😱... knowing the area I figured, I just wait until 6am next morning... but the adventure instinct kick it in 🙄... inner me was like... just go to Juárez it’s only 25 minutes east... outer me was like yeah! But remember that was the most dangerous city in the world some years back, it’s late, don’t!
So I left for Juárez 🙄 yeah, I did... 10 minutes into my drive, I get into the city, it’s not the best looking part of town I can tell you that much, but been around border cities in Mexico, I’m used to it, not to mention I lived in Juárez for about 2 months almost 10 years ago... so I keep driving some more gps stop working, I get no signal on both of my phones😳, right up the street tons of cops (check point) routine questions and I’m on my way, 5 more minutes into the drive Tons of Federal police more questions...at this point I’m regretting it, it’s mid night, I’m in Juárez with kids, gps is not working and I’m just going by instinct and by what I remember when I lived there...almost made it to the bridge and I see a sing and reads bridge closed...fuck🙀...internally I freaked out externally I was cool, kids told me.. don’t worry dad will find an other bridge open...👀... I was running along the Texas border so I just kept driving, I learned not to stay still for long when lost in this areas and keep moving , so I did that..a few miles into the drive a sing reads Zaragoza international bridge... and man let me tell you it felt good😁, made it there pay 32 pesos for toll road 🤔..then checked in with a female Officer and just like that we were in Texas😬.. kids were like..”Dad if you got us out of this one we can make it to Patagonia”😎🤣😂 so tired we 🛏 in New Mexico right in the Continental Divide.. what an adventure! #travelgram #bajatopatagonia #instagood #travel #juarez #mexico #pic #photo #roadtrip #backpacking #van #photography
