No barbell glute exercises 🍑! 💚 These are some great glute-focused exercises I use in many of my leg workouts (after heavier barbell movements) or during condo/hotel gym workouts when I don’t have access to heavier weights. While some are better with body weight or dumbbells, many can also be performed with a barbell if you have access to one.
While I always focus most on heavier compound exercises, I’ve found it very helpful to also include more glute-focused work. My quads and hammies much prefer to grow so adding more volume this way has helped the 🍑 catch up (although RDLs will definitely hammer your hamstrings).
Play around with your stance width and foot position to see what works best for you. Some exercises you may feel great engagement and others won’t work well and that’s totally normal. I know many struggle to feel their glutes in frog reverse hypers and those light my glutes up 🔥. Be careful when (if) you’re performing curtesy squat movements that you don’t allow your knee to buckle in. It can be a great exercise but pay careful attention to perform safely 👊🏻.
Side lying hip raises, frog pumps, and glute-focused back extensions are other great ones 👌🏻. Despite how darn long this video is, this is definitely not an exhaustive list 😝. Hope this helps!
