La postura è l'adattamento personalizzato di ogni individuo all'ambiente fisico, psichico ed emozionale; in altre parole è il modo con cui reagiamo alla forza di gravità e comunichiamo. Essa, pertanto, come un'impronta digitale, varia per ogni individuo. Tutte le vertebre hanno la caratteristica di essere mobili, in diversi gradi in base alla loro collocazione, quindi struttura, nelle varie direzioni dello spazio. L'ampiezza dei movimenti elementari, scarsa a livello dei singoli segmenti, diviene rilevante considerando il rachide nel suo insieme che risulta così in continuo aggiustamento con movimenti di estensione, flessione, rotazione, inclinazione e scivolamento. Esistono però lungo la colonna vertebrale delle zone di rotazione sul piano trasverso privilegiate, definite "cerniere di rotazione". Tali cerniere coincidono con i punti di inversione delle curve fisiologiche della colonna vertebrale (lordosi lombare, cifosi dorsale, lordosi cervicale) e con i segmenti a livello dei quali i movimenti di rotazione dei tratti rachidei sottostanti e sovrastanti si contrappongono. Le caratteristiche strutturali delle vertebre variano in base alla curva rachidea di appartenenza e presentano, a livello delle cerniere fisiologiche di passaggio fra esse, una vertebra "di transizione" che somma le caratteristiche delle vertebre del gruppo superiore e inferiore. . 📌My athletes jump, land, squat, hinge, push and pull. We perform these basic movement patterns that underpin sport WELL - ➡I always get comments about how well my athletes lift. Especially given their age and size✔ - ⚠Why? Because we spend a lot of time ingraining these specific movement patterns. Their program will change every 4-5 weeks but the BASICS remain in the program. We have our main lifts, our variations and progressions, and our supplementary work and we stick to this - ➡For junior athlete’s movement quality, muscular activation and tempo are the priority. If junior athletes don’t get this coaching young enough they can then develop faulty movement patterns, faulty neural patterns and it is almost too late to correct this by the time they are 18⚠⚠⚠ - Each program progresses from the last and our focus will shift depending on what part of the netball season we are in and the ability of the athlete. 🔥TENNIS ELBOW EXERCISES🔥 . ⚠️ I just launched my new website (Link in Bio) and I'm now opening up a very limited amount of spots for online coaching! . As presented in yesterday's post, a study comparing 3 different exercise regimens for people with tennis elbow, found eccentric-concentric training with isometric contractions to be the most effective for reducing pain and improving function. The participants in the study also performed static stretching of the wrist extensors, and this video show you how both of them is done . Eccentric-concentric training with isometric contractions: . 1️⃣ Start with your forearm in pronation, and your wrist fully extended as high as possible 2️⃣ Slowly flex the wrist while counting to 30 3️⃣ Extend your wrist back up to starting position 4️⃣ Hold the starting position for 45 seconds 5️⃣ Repeat for 3 sets of 15 reps with 1 minute rest in between the sets . Static stretching of the wrist extensors: . 1️⃣ Fully extend your elbow 2️⃣ Forearm in full pronation 3️⃣ Place wrist in flexion and ulnar deviation according to your tolerance 4️⃣ Hold for 30-45 seconds 5️⃣ Repeat for 3 times with 30 seconds of rest between each repetition . The participants in the study performed the exercise program 5 times a week for 4 weeks . FOUNDATION MOVEMENTS There are many exercises that can be practised for the core as its function is to facilitate and stabilise movement in all planes. These exercises shown here focus on anti-extension of torso during flexion movements and anti-flexion of torso during extension movements. Progressions with limbs incorporate anti-rotation and balance. It's critical to follow correct technique to perfect the movement. With practise, better motor patterns will develop. Principles of engaging core - draw the navel towards the spine and hold - draw the pelvic floor muscles towards your stomach and hold - inhale feeling your stomach expand and hold - tuck ribs towards the floor if they are flaring up - posterior tilt your hips if there is an arch in your lower back or anterior tilt if your back is bending (find neutral spine -an instructional post about finding neutral spine and spinal mobility will be posted up soon with further details) 1. Dead Bug: Hold - by engaging your core and sustaining a brace, feel your back press flat into the surface. Hold up your arms and legs at 90 degrees to your body. Remember to continue breathing and feeling your stomach expand. 2. Deadbug: Alternating arm and leg - hold a dead bug, while sustaining your braced core and back flat on the surface, slowly lower opposite arm and leg only up to the point the core starts to fail or your back arches. DO NOT go further, as you will lose the core engagement. 3. Bird Dog: Hold - find your neutral spine while kneeling by arching and bending your back and stopping at the middle point. Engage your core and sustain a brace in neutral position and maintain this position throughout. Drive your hands and toes into the ground, lift your knees off the ground and hold this position. 4. Bird Dog: Alternating arm and leg - hold the bird dog position, without losing your core brace, lift an opposite arm and leg up simultaneously to the point you can go no further without compromising form. If this is too difficult to begin with, start with your knees on the ground. It is advisable to also practise with a mirror so that you can understand how your body is moving.
