Gideon the Chocobo says hello! There hasn't been much in the way of progress for several reasons. I came down with a blood clot that kept me from using my right arm for over a week. Secondly, the printers at my university ate up my card stock, printed one section double-sided, one section at 90% scale, and used up all my free printing allotment. Thirdly, the latex-based paper cement I bought is super finicky on the very few cardstock pages I tested it on and I probably will have to switch to regular white glue. And for the fourth... My pepakura s*** the bed and I'm having to start over again with the pages. It's extremely disheartening.
That doesn't mean progress has stopped entirely. So far I've learned what I can and can't do. I CAN'T tell the printer people on campus I'm building a seven foot tall cosplay and want to use the printers for that. I CAN tell them it's a massive 3D design project and I may have gotten way over my head with it and want I use the printers for that.
I CAN'T put together tiny pepakura pieces (like those around the eye sockets) last. It was a disaster with the concept print to try to fit them into tiny gaps; they tore, crumpled, and otherwise made a mess. And I CAN'T use tape for pepakura assembly. Just.... No.
I've also started working on a shopping list for this project, one that includes: a climbing harness, drywall stilts, plastic corset boning, and kite rods, among many other strange things
