The Day After Saturday... or Is It The Day Before Monday, Ash Canyon, September 23, 2018|| I like recovery runs on Sunday. They’ve turned into spending time with my oldest, who is training for his first 50k, and being creative with an active recovery workout.
Today, I took @a1d3n_maldo
out for the same run as last week. The goal today for him was attacking a couple uphill sections and the last downhill section. The takeaway for him was to get him to listen to his body and gauge level of effort from last week to this week. He’s starting to get the feel for it.
For me, the split in the run allowed me to work with him on the first half and cruise at his pace. When we got back to the car, I debriefed with him and deliberately took a few more minutes to fully rest. I wanted the second half to start from resting heart rate and while the body was starting to recover. Finished out the run with a climb up Timberline and back. So many benefits to mixing up training workouts throughout the week and from week to week! These are good days!
