#getlovedup Bend so you do not break! Day 17 of the @getlovedup challenge @koyawebb #pyramidpose #parsvottanasana Finally got on the mat for a guided hour long twisting session! Taking on more challenges the further I cleanse my body with #raw plant foods, prayer and fasting 🙏🏼✨💝 Swipe to see the pose with the twisted variation. I remember two an a half years ago when I was in so much pain from injuring myself that I was literally dragging my legs around. One more than the other most days. It was three weeks until filming in Bulgaria and meeting my Then New found Mentor who Id been chatting with and doing her challenges for well over a year by then @koyawebb It was because of her teachings that I strengthened up enough to make it, painfully, but I still made it! Tears on my matt, doubts of being able to sit on a plane ✈️ for so long, jolts running up and down my body, many MANY falls to the ground. But I got back up. As many times I fell I got back up even stronger 💪🏼 I practiced 2-3Xs a day. 20 minutes in the morning with a short meditation if I could. Then 1-2 hours at night usually ending with me laying on the mat and coming back to anywhere from 1-3am! But I did it. No matter the time, energy, or pain I was in I still got it done. ♥️ Now that was dedication and determination! 💢 💯 I think back to that time often and wonder why I’m not still like that now? Ive trained 200+ hours intensive to become a teacher and yet don’t challenge myself enough like I did then. Mind you I am stronger and have come really far since! 🔆 When Ive gone without my practice that pain would come back to haunt me. Its taught me to keep consistent and always BREATH through the tough times, and If you feel like punching or kicking something.... well just think back to what Sensei said and aim for the air NOT the heavy bag 😅 I learn the hard way apparently!! Stay limber friends ✌🏼

It really awakened my perspective of life. The dishes can wait. The laundry pile won’t expire if it’s not washed. What I want to make as the focus of my days is love, loving Jesus by showing love to myself & those around me. Teaching my son how to drive, painting with my teenage daughter, sharing a family meal on Sunday evenings with my adult daughter, going on a date night with my husband, & keeping my promise to myself to practice yoga everyday are small ways I’m spending my time and showing love for myself & my family. I love this pose but the danger as a beginner is always to try and go too deep. This pose needs some slow work to start opening though the hamstrings. Woke up this morning and it was definitely not go time 😴😄. Early morning practice with yoga blocks . This in itself is a practice for me because of an old pattern or way of thinking. That using a block is somehow cheating ( I know silly but that was my thought .... no pain and no gain ) . Well practicing this way has allowed me to gain more safely in exploring postures. . Yoga blocks: Support range of motion, thereby shortening the distance between you and the floor (“bringing the floor closer to you”). . Assist in establishing correct alignment. . Bring awareness to properly engage and support muscles in a specific pose. . I really enjoy this approach of allowing the body to open up without stressing it into a shape. Everyday is different but awareness of how you feel on the day you can adjust your practice accordingly. ✌🏽🤸🏾‍♂️.
