Young one, I can see you in my memories, drifting in glittering teal waters, reaching towards a setting sun, sighing to the sailboats, staring at the mountains— those far-off layers of faded ripples, framing the world.
Young one, when you hang this moment on a wall inside your soul,
remember you can be lonely and not sad, gentle and not weak, and it is a blessing to find something worth crying for.
You don’t need permission to delight in this world. You see the flower on the mountain, the glitter in the wave. You are open enough to accept joy, and that is strength.
Young one, I know how hard it is to say goodbye to sea and mountains all at once— but you will find them again, here and in unlikely places. And when unlikely places call you, sail away without regret.
You know who you are and one day you will understand why. One day you will be so glad you didn’t settle for anything less than a love that made you feel as beautiful as the Aegean and just as deep.
But today, reach out your arms and take hold of the light, the air, the sea— and know how much you are already loved.
