We hear this word inflammation all of the time... but what does it mean? And what are the causes?
• Inflammation is the body's attempt at self-protection to remove harmful stimuli and begin the healing process. Inflammation is an immune response that helps prevent us from getting sick, and helps us heal from injury.
🔥 Chronic inflammation is what we need to be aware of. When inflammation is constantly “turned on” it starts mistakingly attacking healthy parts of our body. This is when disease and health disorders start showing up.
💫Sooo what causes chronic inflammation?
- Excess sugar in diet (more than 5 TOTAL teaspoons in a day)
- Processed foods (most foods that come in a box, or from a restaurant, processed meats)
- Dairy products (a little may be okay depending on the person)
- Certain cooking oils (margarine and vegetable oils
-Environmental factors (living close to farms that use pesticides, eating pesticide sprayed foods, cleaning products)

Yes, we love all the decadent dessert possibilities around this Hallmark holiday 💝, but what about some self love in the form of this vitality boosting salad 🥗? CHAYOTE SALAD
Med-Lrg Chayote, peeled and rinsed
1 teaspoon Himalayan salt
1 cup cherry tomatoes
Handful of flat leaf parsley
Juice of 1 lime
¼ cup of olive oil
1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 clove garlic, mince
1) Wash the chayote squash well, and peel off the rough outer skin. You will need to quarter it lengthwise to remove all of the peel. Cut the pit and seeds out of each quarter. Rinse the viscous film off of the veg and place on a dry cutting board or plate. Using your veg peeler or a mandolin, slice long, thin strips from each quarter and place in a colander. Add a generous pinch of salt to the shavings and mix well, allowing some moisture to drain from the squash.
2) Wash the tomatoes and parsley well and pat dry. Chop the tomatoes in half and remove the parsley leaves from the stems. This is a very simple and refreshing salad, we are letting the chayote be the prime focus. If you are not eating tomatoes, you can replace them with olives or another bite sized veg in season.
3) Make the dressing by adding the squeezed juice of the limes, salt, pepper and minced garlic to a small dish and whisking together well for several minutes until it emulsifies. You can also use a blender to do this.
4) Finally, combine the drained chayote strips in a bowl with dressing and toss to coat. Garnish with tomatoes and parsley leaves. Ready to serve as a side salad or light meal.

whether you have an autoimmune disease or not, I believe it's our duty to love, support, and nourish the bodies that we were given. a huge chunk of the HOW behind this is discovered within our diets, i.e. what we choose to put into our body. while I do eat meat, about 75% of my diet is plants and they have and continue to be a huge part of my healing journey.
if you feel bombarded with what diet path to take to get you closer to YOUR best... the biggest and best step you can take is to eat more plants! start where you are. ♡ buy more at the store (just like chips and cookies, if you buy them you'll eat them). ♡ change your approach - veggies do NOT have to be boring and often they can be more satisfying then a non veggie dish. for inspo!) ♡ add them into your smoothies! if you have 60 seconds, you have time to blend a fiber packed AM smoothie together.

💯 Day 8/14 of the #elementaldiet
to kill off my #sibo
and I’m feeling good. Day 5 was a little rough, but overall I’ve been having a very positive experience with it.
🙌🏼 Bloating is pretty much gone, I keep brushing up against my stomach and being surprised that it’s not as big/hard as it used to be! Energy is lower than usual, but honestly I expected to be really dragging, and I’m not. I’m sleeping better and just overall feel better. I’m hoping this is indicative of the SIBO being eradicated.
🤪 I thought this was going to be THE hardest thing to do (ya know, not chewing on delicious food..), but it turns out, it’s not! Who knew?!
😋 It’s not to say I LOVE drinking these shakes, cause I don’t, but they really aren’t so bad. Anyway, 6 days left after today, and then I re-take the breath test and begin to slowly reintroduce solid foods! I cannot wait to get back to my #ketolifestyle
and get a burger in my face hole.
So many of you were curious to know more about this dairy free morír soñando (die dreaming) drink I was talking about the other day...and I mean I’m a pleaser, so here it goes 😎. The original Morir Soñando is the perfect food freedom “worth it” drink, made of milk and orange juice it’s like a creamsicle in a cup! For those with a serious dairy intolerance or disinterest this variation does the damn job! Trust me, there is nothing about this that will dissapoint! No need for a vídeo, just throw it all in a blender and bam! (If you don’t have a blender be like my mami and use a spoon) .
1 1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup coconut milk
1 tsp. Vanilla extra
2 tsp. Coconut sugar (optional, can also use cane sugar)

I’ve been having major mom guilt lately because my kiddo usually handles his own breakfast on school days because I have to leave before he does. I try to leave him healthier options, but lately he’s been choosing organic chocolate cereal with whole, grass-fed milk. I know, it could be worse, but it could also be better! (I’d LOVE to stop buying milk, and grains too actually!)
These waffles are super easy for him to pop into the toaster and then he can top them with pure maple syrup (instead of eating high fructose corn syrup!) I am going to have him eat these with fresh fruit or an egg and then no more mom guilt!! BTW, I tried one this morning and they are SO GOOD! This is the difference between caged chickens that live in brutal conditions and these eggs on my plate. Notice how the eggs look almost a bright orange? We have two locals we buy our eggs from and their happy chickens get to roam free, eat bugs outside and no use of antibiotics on them with sweet living conditions. Because the chickens are eating their natural diet the eggs that we eat for breakfast are packed full of more nutrition, healthy fats and tastes better too. Hence the neon yolks instead of the pale yellow from caged chickens at the store. I can’t wait for the #farmersmarket

Egg Roll in a Bowl🍜
1 lb ground turkey
1 large carrot, grated
3/4 head of cabbage, cut into slices
1/2 white onion, chopped
3/4 cup celery, chopped
1/2 cup bean sprouts
1 tsp garlic, minced
Salt & pepper, to taste .
Sauce: mix together 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 garlic cloves, 1 Tbsp coconut sugar, 2 Tbsp water & pepper .
1. In a sauté pan cook the turkey, garlic & onion together. Set aside.
2. Add the celery & carrot to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes. Then add the cabbage & bean sprouts & cook until cabbage is slightly wilted.
3. Add the turkey mixture back in, pour in your sauce & stir to combine.
4. Top with sesame seeds, sriracha or @marionskitchen
sweet chili sauce!
(Paleo/Whole 30 version: sub in coconut aminos for the sauce)

Chia seed jam 👉🏼 boil 1 cup of berries (I used frozen strawberries and raspberries), 1 tbsp chia seeds, and 2 tbsp water in a small pot. Simmer until you can mash the berries, then let cool and thicken up🍓
It’s just like jelly... but without the sugar, corn syrup, and other nonsense 🤪
pesto pasta recipe alert 🚨
I am pretty obsessed with this recipe I created! Pasta usually never satisfies me and always leaves me hangry after... but because I added avocado to this sauce it made it thick, satisfying, and filling from the fiber. Give it a try:
- 1 LARGE bunch on basil
- 1 full avocado
- A half of lemon
- 1/4 cup water
- then add olive oil until it’s the consistency you like - salt, pepper, red chili flakes 🌶
