Shadi season is at full swing in Pakistan. My newsfeed, full of Shadi photographs by various photographers always takes me back to my wedding & preparation ki bhag dhor. I usually end up thinking about lot of stuff “yar aise nahi, wesay karna chaiye tha.” “Kash mujhe uss time ye idea mila hota”. I wish someone had guided me better at that time. But now as I’m an experienced shadi shuda lady, I thought why not guide all brides to be with some useful tips/hacks that no-one talks about.
👰🏻- The most important tip is DONT follow crazy diet plans and go easy on exercise. Please stick to a healthy eating lifestyle that you can carry on even after getting married. Learn about portion control. Please educate yourself about food and how much carbs, proteins etc one should take at a time. Trust me you’ll never have to starve or skip carbs, sugars & oil again.
👰🏻- Starving and over exercising will definitely help you shed weight very fast BUT right after shadi when you’ll get back to normal eating routine & will attend tons of dawtaein, go on dinner dates with husband etc those pounds that you lost with a strict diet will creep back on you in no time. All those beautiful expensive outfits you had gotten for post wedding events will go tight on you & soon aunties will be asking “khushkhabri hai, beta?”
👰🏻- Now, about those expensive party/semi-formal outfits for post wedding events.. Please get your darzi/designer to keep 2-3 inch extra kapra in your outfits so you’ll be able to loosen them up when needed & utilise them dair tak.
👰🏻- If you plan to spend a fortune on your wedding dresses, please design them in a way that they can be easily utilised again. Go for extra kapra in wedding dresses too. Get your lehnga shirts long enough to be worn again with pants.
👰🏻- Makeup! Shadi ki shopping ka favourite part.. If you don’t know alif bay of makeup & your “unhon” is not a fan of makeup “tum sadaa hi achi lagti ho” type, then don’t barbad ami abu ke paise in buying high end + v. expensive makeup just because they’re allowing you... [Continued in comments]
