Always love staying on the barbell for my accessories. Rowing and OHP has always been a weak point of mine. Simple solution? Do it 3x a week and get better 🧐

Sharing some of my fave full body conditioning exercises this week! It helps to have few fresh movements to add to your mix. Stay tuned this week for a bunch of stuff that I may not teach in class but that I love to do on my own.
Made the jump up to nine reps per set today, and felt great.
Very pleased that I stayed at eight reps for so long, and only progressed once ready.
Overhead press with a pause has to be hands down the best supplemental lift I’ve included in my programming. It’s brutal and it gets the job done, great way to end a training week.

Also how do you program your accessory lifts? In a 3x5 with jumps every time (LP style)? A percentage portion of your main lift? Or some other unique way?

Had a great weekend up in Aberdeen at the @massenomics
Strongman Showdown at the Brown County Fair. 10, one on one events and one team event at the end. I competed in the circus dumbbell event. Last man standing with 150 lb. I pulled off the victory with 9-10 reps. @trevorsiemonsma
put on one of the most impressive yoke carries I’ve ever witnessed. Both worked up to 1100 lb with Alan narrowly pulling off the victory. The last event was a tug-o-war. Best of 3. The video is the first round and it lasted 50+ seconds and it was grueling. Don't underestimate the movement, it's more than just a shoulder exercise if your doing it correctly, unfortunately this is one of those that I see so many people do so poorly... .
Going by the principle that you can only exert force in a straight line oppose the Earth's gravitational pull, any movement that isn't directly up is wasted energy/ power... so an overhead press that when pressed from the top of the chest travels away from the mid foot it's just not efficient and also puts even more stress than what's needed on the front of the shoulders. . *Move your body around the bar, not the bar around your body* .
To do this effectively, there has to be a slight bend from the hips which allows the bar to be pressed directly upwards. Whilst doing this, you need to be doing 3 main things...
▪Squeeze your glutes ▪Squeeze your quads ▪Brace your abs. .
It's worth noting I'm still perfecting this and by no means claim to be pressing perfectly, but all I can do is practice and any advice/tips are more than welcome
