LIFE UPDATE TIME!
Big news from this semester!
1. As of now, I have so far been invited to TWO schools to audition in front of their live panel to pursue a Masters in Music; the Manhattan School of Music, and Florida State. I will be flying out to both this spring. Still waiting on University of Maryland, Mannes Conservatory, and Carnegie Mellon’s results!! 😬😬
2. I managed to earn a spot as a Finalist/top 3 vocalist in the Iowa State Solo Orchestra competition, and will be singing in the Final Round concert on January 15th!
3. In two weeks I will be heading to Cedar Rapids to be in the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre Company’s production of “The Threepenny Opera~!!” 💗 So excited for the honor of working with a professional company that I adore so so much.
I’m staring down my final semester of undergrad and I have so many mixed emotions! To think that I’ll be giving my senior recital and GRADUATING in like 6 months is absolutely insane, thanks to everyone who hauled my ass through the tough times, and celebrated with me through the good. Let’s stay up on that rise....!! #operasingersofinstagram#grind#gradschool#auditionseason#highhighhopes#stayuponthatrise
This career is not easy. There’s just as much rejection, if not more, for every audition that pans out. There’s a lot of bucking up to do and tough skin that we’re told to have, but really we just need to have compassion and love for what we do. Is it difficult? Yes. But, when we choose to serve the music instead of some drummed up/idealized sense of success, we come back to what made us love this art. We are lucky that we get to share our gift, tell a story, and hopefully make someone’s life a bit brighter with it. I tend to lose sight of this when I am in the midst of auditions and feeling a little less than. However, every so often I need to remind myself of why I chose this, and that was simply just to serve the music and sing with as much passion as I can. We may not be perfect, we may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we’ll be damned if we don’t continue to share our passion through song. ❤️ #operasingersofinstagram#opera#operasinger#classicalmusic#classicalmusicians#nyc#auditionseason#passion#art#singing
#throwbackthursday to my house debut at the @lyricopera and “Il Trovatore” production that finished just a couple of days ago.
A very important part of my Conte di Lina character was created by a truly talented makeup artist, David Grant. This flattering portrait was made by him. Thank you, @davidiangrant !!
This chilly NYC weather can’t get me down tonight- can’t wait to perform one last time at Madison Square Garden before heading to Boston tomorrow. Be sure to check out my Stories for more backstage adventures!
Turned in my last paper for this semester, meaning I’m 3/4 done with my master’s degree 😬
Another life update, my summer plans have changed a bit! I will now be going to the Aspen Opera Center to sing Countess Charlotte Magnus in A Little Night Music! 🎵
Super-selfie with the great mezzosoprano Debora Beronesi!! 🎼🎶🎵
I had the great pleasure to share the stage with her in our last concert we did for Amnesty International last week in Rome
It's really inspiring for me to sing with artists that had a career like hers!! 😀
