Diet drinks. . . No, I am not saying diet drinks are good for you, but I can tell you that there is no evidence that they are bad for you. . . Did a story about this a few months ago and it stirred up a bit of a fuss so let me be clear, unless you are going to provide evidence, I don’t want to hear about how you think it melted your cousins brain. . . I am not stuck in my ways about this, if evidence emerges in the future that shows a direct correlation between aspartame and other sweeteners to cancer or other diseases then I will completely change my tune, but as it stands, we have evidence to attest to its safety, not the other way around. . . First of all diet drinks counteract the potential one has to gain weight from liquids, and once again, obesity and subsequent diseases are killing a lot more people than aspartame ever will, no matter what future studies indicate. (Dennis et al 2009) (Malik et al 2013). . . The ADI (Accepted Daily Intake) of aspartame is 50mg per kg bodyweight per day. There are 58mg in a can of coke zero. Do you see how there is no way you could even reach this ADI never mind surpass it?. I would have to drink over 90 cans of coke zero to reach this amount. . . Kirkland & Gatehouse 2015 Tandel 2011 Bruyére 2015 Just some of the published literature showing that in the doses that humans consume aspartame, it is not dangerous. Before someone sends me a link to a study carried out on rats, not only were they fed outrageously unrealistic amounts of aspartame, but we also have evidence to show that rats metabolise aspartame differently to humans. . . There was an observational study carried out in 1996 that attempted to claim a correlation between increased brain tumours and aspartames introduction to the market. With further studies it turned out that this rise in brain tumours noted in the study occurred predominantly in a population aged 70+, a population which is obviously not well known for consuming diet drinks. The National Cancer Institute also noted that the rise in brain tumours began in 1973, long before aspartame was introduced to the market. I mention this study because this is where the fear mongering began.

Superset of the day! I did 4 sets of 12-15 reps on the incline single arm chest press than if you swipe left I did some dips for 4 sets of 12-15 reps as well. I prefer to do these kind of movements to burn myself out towards the end of the workout, implementing either a superset or drop set is what I like to do to finish off a body part at the end of the workout! 💪🏼

Did you happen to see my IG Story from earlier today?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Just in case you missed it, I feel it deserves some extra attention here on my feed.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Today I saw a post talking about how the new iPhone is about to be released and people will go out to buy the new phone yet complain that it’s too expensive to eat healthy.⁣⁣🤨 ⁣⁣ This type of mentality happens ALL THE TIME!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I witness this far too often.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you say that health and fitness are a priority for you but you just can’t afford it, I challenge you to sit down and really do some reflection.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Can you REALLY not afford it? Or are you prioritizing poorly?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Think about it…are you going out and buying the next brand-new thing that gets released because you just feel like you have to have the newest and the best? Are you going out to eat multiple times a week? Are you shopping frequently for things that you truly don’t actually need?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you’re doing any of the above things but say you can’t afford a “healthy lifestyle” (eating healthy, joining a gym, hiring a personal trainer or coach)…I’m asking you to PLEASE STOP.⁣⁣✋ ⁣⁣ Be honest with yourself. The ONLY RULE to Reverse Dieting- EVERYONE is DIFFERENT _ When it comes to making adjustments to a clients protocol, you MUST take into consideration the subjective feedback they provide and the objective data you collect. The more information a client provides, the more insight you have into what’s going on, and the more data you’re collecting, the clearer picture you’ll be able paint. (This goes for every phase, not just reversing) but since summer shreds is over for many, I’d figured I’d focus on reversing. _ Rate of gain will be effected by a multitude of variables (ie - client goals, how long was their deficit, how lean did they get, experience level, *ADHERENCE*, clients body weight/size (bikini gal vs jacked bodybuilder) _ With my client David pictured above, we stopped cutting 4 weeks ago & started reversing. Time, Weight (7 day Avg), Adjustment End of Deficit, 77.7kg , added 30g carbs & reduced steps Week 2, 77.9kg, added 20g carbs Week 3, 77.8kg, added 30g carbs Week 4, 77.7kg, added 10g Pro 20g carbs _ So over a 3 week time span we added in 80g carbs to his daily intake, and his weekly avg has remained the same. When I initially started the reverse, David was upset I only gave him a 30g carb increase - he wanted to recover & was expecting closer to 350-500kcal bump. At the end of a fat loss phase, your metabolic rate and hormones have taken a hit so your bodies ability to store fat is enhanced. I wanted to see how he responded to the smaller bumps in food while reducing his activity lvl. _ Long story short, David’s performance significantly increased, mood is enhanced, he’s feeling great & now he’s happy we took it slower bc he actually looks even better than he did at the end of the cut. _ A lot of people want to have guidelines on how much they should gain each week, Mo, year. It totally DEPENDS and is very individual. If you’re making solid progress but are gaining “fast” DONT slow down bc of some arbitrary rule of rate of gain. Yday when doing check-ins another client reversing had a 2.0lbs increase on his 7day avg but his skin caliper measurements went DOWN! ... Continued in comments

#transformationtuesday Post and also a reminder to everyone that the number on the scales DOES NOT MATTER! I am currently at my heaviest weight in 7 years! Yet my physique has completely changed! So many things affect the number on the scales and it's rarely an accurate representation of fat loss! I would have never considered myself as overweight and was as happy in myself then, as I am now...but more than anything I love feeling strong 💪 fit 🏃‍♀️ and healthy both physically and mentally!
